the delivery and tip is usually about 20-30% of the cost, the same as you’d pay in a sit down restaurant.
when i order from places, my bill is the same pretty much as it would be if I went there and sat down to eat.
i love these replies saying every order is $50 or something… these people have never used a delivery app. vast majority of my orders it’s a 5 bucks in fees and a 5 buck tip on a 25 dollar food order. most of my orders are 30-35 dollars.

I don’t know where you live but my sister insists that we order with Doordash here in Canada and it’s much more expensive than just going to the restaurant. Plus, the food is cold and there’s an error with the order most of the time. It really sucks and I hope she would stop wasting her money on that.
good for your sister. my experience using food apps has been nothing but positive. on rare occasion something is missing and i report it and i get refunded.
also i think anyone who expects delivered food to be hot and ready to eat is entitled AF. you should expect to re-heat anything that takes more than 5 minutes to deliver, which would be most anything unless you’re like 5 blocks from the restaurant.
i don’t know what universe people are living in where their take out doesn’t have to be re-heated. mine always does. the only food that i don’t have to re-heat is when i’m in the restaurant. my burritos that i walk to to get take out are always cold when I get home less it’s like 80 degrees out.

Pre gig economy?! I can easily remember the 90ies and early 2000 when restaurants had their own drivers and the food you ordered was still hot when it got to you.

I think anyone who expects delivered food is lazy AF. I do it maybe once a year when I have friends over, but I also make sure to order from a restaurant with its own drivers, and avoid any venture-capitalist-gig-economy app. The other times, I just get off my fucking ass and go grab something at the restaurant. Plus, I live in a tower and most of those app drivers will not come up to my apartment. They just leave the food in the lobby downstairs. IMHO, Doordash/UberEats and all those are absolutely not worth it.
cool. i live in a house and they leave it on my porch and it’s great. I’d rather not waste an hour of my day to pick up food, that’s not very convenient. it’s pretty convenient to toss it in the oven for 5m to heat it up after it’s delivered though.
in the 90s and 2000s delivery didn’t exist for me. I grew up in a poor rural area we ate out like once every 3-4 months usually during a major shopping trip or family event. so i guess i never had the privilege of any of what you are talking about where restaurants would deliver food.
I only started using food delivery during the pandemic because it was the only way to eat out at the time.
They also raise menu prices to make even more profit. I’ll never understand why non-disabled people use food delivery apps. It’s always cheaper to just pick it up yourself. Even if the restaurant does their own delivery, they still charge a delivery fee and you’re expected to tip. Quit being lazy/rich and just pick up your own meal.

I live in a city where I have no family and just loose acquaintances. There have been times where I’ve been sick with the flu or a cold and these services are well worth the bloat and extra fees.

I watch my direct neighbors order coffee every week. These are people who when you go into their home they have very expensive coffee machines, plural, that they cannot stfu about. I’m like do you just never use the machines? Lol. They’ll also get home from errands, and ten minutes later food is delivered from around the corner. Bewildering. They have had a leaky roof and a busted fence for years now. Yes I am nosey but we share a side drive so I see everything even if I don’t want to lmao
yeah same. i used it a lot when i’m sick or injured.
but there are people who over-use it. I had a roommate 5 years ago who made about 40K a year, who was spending $500 a month in delivery food… and another $200 in delivery weed. And he talked a lot about how broke he was… this was a guy who also drove to work when his workplace was 10m walk away.

Anyway, let me tell you about mine: woke up to my Apple iPhone alarm, immediately checked Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, Gmail, and YouTube, rolled out of bed, threw on a Nike hoodie, Levi’s jeans, and Adidas sneakers, grabbed a Starbucks pumpkin spice latte, hopped into an Uber while blasting Spotify through my AirPods, then got to my place and opened my Microsoft laptop, fired up Google Chrome, and bounced between Amazon, Netflix, YouTube, Wikipedia, LinkedIn, Reddit, and eBay like I was speedrunning the internet.
Around lunch I hit McDonald’s for a Big Mac, fries, and a Coca-Cola, thought about Chick-fil-A and Taco Bell but the line was insane, paid with my Visa, checked my Bank of America app, then wandered into Walmart, Target, and Costco just to buy stuff I didn’t need, ended up looking at Samsung TVs, LG appliances, Sony headphones, and a random KitchenAid mixer like I was about to become a whole different person.
Later I grabbed a Dunkin’ iced coffee, kept scrolling TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts like my brain was running on autopilot. Got home, microwaved some frozen Nestlé food, turned on my Samsung TV, opened Netflix, considered Disney+ and Hulu, then sat there half-watching while checking emails on Gmail and pretending I had my life together.

Probably not, I do this every chance I get while delivering. Even if the pet is in the window and I have to take an absurd angle to get both the food and the pet in the shot lol.

I was trying to weed my garden planter to plant stuff for spring a couple weeks ago and started ripping up big chunks of grass/roots that had grown in there. One of them pulled up a big thing of fur. Was confused until I looked to see what it was. Saw a pile of little baby bunnies. Ended up just covering them back up with the fur and going back inside. My laziness took that as a fuck it guess that’s their spot now.
I probably should have weeded the rest and still planted, but I figure the bunnies will probably eat whatever I plant there anyways

People who don’t have cars. My dad drives for Uber Eats and a large percentage of his deliveries are to apartments or houses where people don’t seem to have cars parked anywhere.
People will spend $50 on two donuts and coffee delivered to their front door and then complain about not being able to make ends meet.

The only time I tried it they were definitely much better than the only alternative at the time which was prepackaged ones available in grocery stores.
I really despise these food delivery apps . To me, it’s already expensive enough to buy fast food (or fancier food) in the first place. But to nearly double the price you would have paid, all to avoid walking or driving down the street to get it? I mistakenly assumed that it was doomed to fail when i found out how ridiculously overpriced it is (not to mention, you have to tip them on top of all that?!?)… I mean, good for the people who need to make the $ at least (while they still can, it seems inevitable that robots/autonomous vehicles will eventually capture this money-making avenue as well)

in practice, well, yeah, some companies make a looot of money by cooking for lots of people at once. so called restaurants. i wish they were efficient. they waste waaaaay too many resources on “decorating” the room instead of just providing food IMHO.

It wasn’t all that expensive during the COVID lockdowns, which is where they saw the most success that allowed it to get where it is now. People got a taste of the convenience and now are comfortable paying more to keep the convenience.

Question. If you have a rabbit freely running around the house, doesn’t that mean you’re going to have little shit balls all over the place? I’ve had rabbits in the past and I’ve never been able to properly potty train one to only shit in one place before. Rabbits don’t really control their shit like other animals do, at least not 100%.
It’s pretty easy to litter train a bunny. They do intentionally leave territorial poops anyway, but those are hard little balls at the edges and corners of the room, so not too obnoxious.
The most difficult thing about a free roaming bunny is that the like to chew (it’s more correct to say they have to chew, since their teeth always grow), and getting them to chew what you want them to chew, not what you don’t want, is a challenge.
We had an accidental bunny once (neighbor was getting rid of her, so we took her), and we wanted to keep her in the house and let her roam, but she wanted to chew everything, especially power cords. So we had to keep her in her hutch outdoors.
She was super sweet, and we really loved her. I would have another bunny as a pet, but we’d have to prepare by getting obsessive about cable management first.
The thing we found worked well for cords were those tubes with a split down the side that they sell for cable management. They’re big enough around that the bunny can’t get its mouth and them.
The harder things for us were wooden chair legs and the like. Basically it was a matter of making sure there were things the bunny preferred to chew around, so the house was strewn with wicker baskets and stuff.
All my buns are free-roam and potty-trained! Sure there might be some stray poops sometimes, especially when something startles them, but I’d say they’re great 97% of the time. Spaying/neutering them helps a lot.
When I find a lot of poop outside their litter box (most of the time in one neat stack), it usually means they’re angry at me. Food is late, litter box is too dirty, there is too much noise outside (somehow this is my fault)… haha.
Unsurprisingly the type of people would let a bunny freely roam and shit in their house are the same type of people who would spend a stupid amount of money to doordash junk food to their house.
I don’t think anyone has complained about the worst thing in this picture yet. The door opens outward and all that shit is in it’s pathway.
