There is no clear way to get the toast out without using a conductive implement like a fork or your finger.
We’ve been to the Moon ffs
Most toasters you can lift the pushy-downy-handle up a bit more than it rests at to lift the toast out.
My big problem is that (in the UK at least, don’t know about other nations) the standard sized bread doesn’t fit fully in a toaster, so the top ~3cm is still bread.
Rapidly push the lever up to eject your toast and grab it midair. Works 95% of the time
Use a toaster oven
We have… I’m more impressed that you found a toaster that doesn’t. I don’t think I’ve had a toaster in the last ten years that didn’t give a little bit of leeway on the lever to let you pull up a little bit more to be able to grab it.
Gravity. Flip it upside down.
🙄
What you need is a better toaster, like a 2 slice dualit. They are amazing, you still raise the toast when it’s on and has a longer popup

If i remember correctly, this is a gimmick so you can have a romantic toast breakfast where it releases your toast at the same time (British culture, eh?).
But when I heard about it, i instead honed in on how its design provides a FABULOUS solution to getting ALL-CRUmBED-oUT, which is recurring the problem you identify in your post. See, since the sweetheart toaster suspends the toast in the air and heats on one side at a time (a more elegant solution, I may add), it doesn’t trap any debris of any sort into any part of of the device at any time - Try saying that with a mouthful of jammy bread!
This particular toaster design is from 106 years ago I think.
Visual example via Redlib:
The problem is that you’re trying to use a fork or your finger. Bread goes into the toaster. You’re obviously supposed to fish it out with a bread knife.

“We” have had toasters like this since at least the 1920s.
Sorry for whatever parallel universe you live in that doesn’t have toasters…
We have, most toasters let you lift the lever higher to get it out.
My favourite is when a toaster with the lift function raises to a high point that’s lower than the high point on one without the lift.
Or that time I went through every display toaster in the store to get the one that lifted the highest, then when I bought one and took it home the one in the box only lifted to a high point an inch lower than the display model.
Mine only does it by like 10%. It must be a bad make
You have to master the art of the toss. Push the lever hard and then catch it while its in the air.
Get a better toaster or a toaster oven with a sliding tray.
Toaster Oven for life!
I don’t know about your toaster, but mine is built so you can lift the handle slightly from the standard position, which lifts the bread mechanism and allows you to access the bread without poking into the toaster.
Push it down then up real fast and then catch the toast as it flies out.
Thank you
Wait, that’s actually what worked?
It sounds like a shitpost but it works
Not today but you made me remember I’ve seen others do it. With the correct toaster of course
Wooden chopstick(s)
Or plastic I guess, but mine are wooden
Yeah. Chopsticks are the answer.
That’s really clever. I even have a couple of pairs
There is absolutely a Technology Connections about this.

So if your toast isn’t taller than those sides, can you open it sideways or something? Remember those bars are scorching hot.
Fill it with oil*, now you’ve got a deep fryer!

Please don’t.
WOAH. I don’t think I could afford that unfortunately
