The online survey of 1,002 U.S. adults was conducted between Jan. 13 and 15. It found that 66 per cent of respondents want Canada to remain an independent nation
This is questionable. Partially because the knuckle draggers who support trump largely wouldn’t know what the word annex means.
That’s why it’s not that magical 33%
doubt
NGL I’d want Canada to annex us.
I’m in the PNW, it’s a fairly common sentiment around here.
How about Canada Annexes the PNW and New England and the US annexes Alberta.
And how many percent of them hesitated to say that they agree with that?
Only 66% were against, so you can safely assume that other 34% all really think we should but some of them just were smart enough not to say it out loud.
17% of Americans are abjectly stupid
It’s at least 2x-3x that statistic. They are just even more ignorant or uninvolved in life outside of their small town.
Meanwhile I’m sitting here wishing Canada would annex the U.S.
Or at least New England. Not even the whole of New England. They can leave Connecticut behind. That may be better for everyone.
CT is fine as long as they leave behind Fairfield county.
I was always kinda hopin’ Canada would annex us instead.
I’ve traveled to a few states and I think some of them would make fantastic provinces. Some of them have people very kind and friendly, and I like to think that fits well with Canadians.
Set it up! If you can get orange daddy to sign off on it (convince him it’ll sway the vote to be more red with fewer blue in there) and we’ll be set!
You like bacon? You ever had sortilege?
The top half of VT is basically Canada, heck a lot of them speak french already.
Canadian here: FUCK. OFF.
American here - I wish we would
17% of Americans can throw themselves directly into a volcano.
After they’ve fucked themselves with a cactus
I have a feeling many of them would miss.
pretty sure they’d need assistance on that, so, eh. you know.
You think one of those rascal scooters could make it to the summit?
nope. they’re gonna have to hire sherpas or something.
I bet I could find some folks willing to do it for free out of the goodness of their hearts.
“I don’t want muh tax dollars going to foreigners!”
So many US sources say shit like “only 17 %” as if this is a low value. It’s infuriating
I think the wording is meant to contrast how few Americans actually want it, vs, how much Trump wants it, who, as president, should, in theory as an elected figure, represent the majority opinion of the people. So, they are calling attention to the fact that it’s a low number, but for a different reason than your reading.
And saying 66% don’t want the USA to annex Canada as if that’s in any way a reassuringly low number.
Psychopaths
17% feels about right in my subjective experience.
17 percent of Americans need lobotomies.
They seem to be way ahead of you
Is it bad if I want Canada to annex Minnesota? (where I happen to live.)
Fugly Grey Duck
As a Canadian I like visiting Minnesota and it feels like a real shame not to be able to visit there right now because of all the fascism. I think many Minnesotans would fit in quite well among Canadians. But there are also some horrible reactionary elements there. Perhaps persuade them to move to Texas first.
Let’s just tell them all that Canadian electricity will make their kids gay.
Or maybe we blame all that fresh air you send our way.
Yeah, I don’t entirely object to the reverse (as long as California is adopted into the family), but making Canada part of the US? No thank you. Fucking crab bucket mentality; can’t let other people have nice things.
Let’s respect the borders! Northern States for Canada, Southwest States for Mexico 😁
🤔🤔🤔 And Florida for Cuba 😁😁😁
What has Cuba done to deserve that kind of punishment?
I said Florida, not Floridians😁😁😁
I’m sure they can work something out.
Even if 100 percent of then wanted to they still wouldn’t have a moral claim over it.
I dunno. Seeing as they have a large region there that shares a name with my tribe. Where many used to live. Maybe they could let a few of us in.
Do you think you’ll enter with the same rights you have now or the same rights they have. Or will you have a much lower, second class or third class rights.

Isn’t that what the Jay Treaty is for?
Heh don’t know, but I should probably check.
Well of course they do. Its just so unfair that Canadians get public health care, parental leave, good public education, no school shootings, and better treatment of citizens. Why should Canadians have a better lifestyle than american slaves?
