Are there any apps that let you beam files from your phone to your computer or another phone? Idk what this would be called but it would make my life so much easier

Another one for KDE Connect. https://kdeconnect.kde.org/download.html It works on everything. Linux, Android, Windows, macOS, iOS, SailfishOS(?). I use to to share files from phone to my laptop, laptop to Steam Deck.

    LOCALSEND

It’s an app for your phone and another app for your computer. Works good. It’s how I do it. Uses wifi I think

If your PC has bluetooth: The default file share that comes up when you hit the share button can use bluetooth. Just set the PC to receive a file.

Localsend has been really well considered. Only wish is that it recognized links and opened them in a browser automatically

KDE Connect has an app for Gnome too (GS Connect) so lots of flavours of Linux can join in. Brilliant way to sync your phone to your PC in every way.

If I’m out in public and needing to send or receive something on the fly and not go through the process of convincing someone to download an app they likely won’t download I’ll use Send it has come in handy in a pinch. I typically use Localsend as well but have never been able to get it to work on GOS devices.

I find the scp command to be extraordinarily powerful for never having been taught anything about it in school.

Kde connect works good, but https://pairdrop.net/ may be helpful.

KDE connect works great with Linux. You can easily put stuff on and get stuff off your phone.

pairdrop.net i believe is the url, is a good alternative to localsend if you dont want to have to have all devices having an app, e.g. sending a one off file to a friend

Syncthing or Resilio Sync for regular, instant, no-fuss between devices you control.

I use Syncthing-Fork in my phone (has more flexible sybc conditions) to keep specific folders in sync.

I use Resilio Sync on my file server just for the Selective Sync feature, which enables me to easily grab any file from the server from anywhere.

Quick but not instant. Did bite me yesterday when my password database didn’t update on my mobile before i left home.

+1 Syncthing-fork Started using it a few months ago to sync notes between desktop and phone. Since it’s just a synced directory ive also used it to copy other files back and forth quickly
