The thumbnail is an image of mug cakes that I make as a snack. I failed making that cake because it overflowed out of the mug.

This is the cornbread mix I get from Walmart for pretty cheap and I can make over a weeks worth of mug cake with a single bag.
It only takes me about a few minutes to make in the microwave. I make mine with milk and honey instead of water. Cheap as packet of Ramen noodles and probably more calories than ramen noodles
How did you create that hole? Finger?
Never ask that question.
Well now I have to know what made the depression.
How long should I let it cool down before I make the hole in it?
Just grit your teeth a and shove it in.
No! Don’t put your whily in things you don’t know!
You should watch the documentary film about pastry: American Pie
TRY FINGER BUT HOLE
Amazing chest ahead
Don’t give up, skeleton!
Oooo you don’t have the right…
Its like a geyser hole. The milk gets hot and frothy and pushing the mix through the center of the mug.
You didnt fail. Just sayin.
Never tried a mug cake, what’s your process? How long does in need to microwave?
My wife and I are occasional mug cake enjoyers. After trying a lot of recipes, this is by far the best recipe we’ve tried.
Much appreciated!
I warm up milk and honey, or water by itself for about a minute in the microwave Then mix in the make mix. After I have stuff to sort of a cake batter mix I cook it for 2 minutes at medium power level.
I do put it in for another minute on high if there’s still batter left over
It’s like 7 minutes to cook
Looks interesting, do you use baking powder to make it rise?
Edit: Ah, I see that it’s “self-rising” - did they add baking powder? We don’t have that kind of thing here.
Baking powder is already mixed in it does add to the salt content through.
I would do a regular cornmeal in a mug but I like the fluffy texture
Is Daves a good one to do this?
No idea who Dave is
Dave’s not here!
Or is it the Dave’s I know?
Retailers such as Walmart, Costco, and various grocery stores carry Famous Dave’s Original Recipe Corn Bread Mix
Just mix your own. Buy cornmeal, baking soda, baking powder. Then you can mix how you like it.
For example, I prefer a Northern Cornbread recipe which uses a little flour and sugar for a softer cornbread. Though I also like others, that’s just my go-to.
Similar to this but my ratio is 5:3:1 corn meal to flour to sugar. This recipe is far too much flour and sugar in my opinion.

“My your mugth runth over!”
Solidheron: “I got that.”
Looks great, I’ll have to give this a try asap!
A great backpacking breakfast is PB+J grits. Add peanut butter and jelly to cornbread mix.
Bonus is you can get cornbread mix pretty much anywhere in the US for cheap.
That’s good idea, I’m on a process food diet (my cutoff is anything more processed than bread). So America peanut butter and jelly tends to be out for me. I guess that peanut powder + grits would work
