Donald Trump’s approval rating has hit its worst level during his two terms in office, with more than six in 10 Americans disapproving of the president’s job performance.

Trump’s rating is at its worst on the cost of living and other economic issues since launching his deeply unpopular war against Iran in February, which has plunged the global economy into an oil crisis and sent gas prices rocketing to a four-year high.

Two-thirds of Americans now feel the country is headed in the wrong direction.

Meanwhile in Germany, somewhere around 12 % are satisfied with the work of Chancellor Friedrich Merz with somewhere around 85 % actively disapproving.

Don’t get me wrong, I too am far from satisfied with the work of Chancellor Merz, but with all his faults he is still far away from being anywhere near as awful as Trump.

As was predicted because this entirely predictable outcome of making him president is exactly what was expected. And guess what? It’s going to get worse.

    Lol.

Without a doubt the worst president in U.S. history and we’re only at 6 of 10?

This nation is a fucking clown car flying off a cliff made of clowns into a black hole of endless Mandelbrot clowns.

To be clear, this country is far, far too stupid for anything other than continued collapse to happen even after this pedophile is being eaten by worms.

Well hey these survey takers sure didn’t ask me. Sounds like they didn’t ask you either. I dunno who is even answering these things. How does one get asked?

I bet they’re missing a lot of Americans in these surveys! I bet it’s more like 8 or 9 out of 10 if the survey was more obviously available.

Poll yesterday said 26% approval rating, which is a record in the US. The title should be 2.6/10. The Guardian probably sought out Trump supporters in particular?

As someone who voted for Kamala Harris… I really wish people would stop pretending like she was a good candidate. She was the better candidate… relative to a sentient bag of shit. To be fair, the fact that the democrats were split on whether or not incinerating children was okay, probably meant that they were doomed to lose the election no matter who they ran…

          sentient

Arguable, he has zero internal monologue and has to express everything he comes up with immediately out loud. If he’s sentient, a LLM is too.

That is 100% fair but it’s irrelevant. At this point it doesn’t matter what skeletons she had in her closet or what she supported because there is NOTHING she could support that would be worse than what we currently have.

Congratulations on being a bot. I’ll engage you this once and block you.

No one said she was a good candidate. The alternative that we currently have is a convicted felon, convicted rapist, and at the bare minimum was associated with one of the biggest pedophile sex trafficking ring that has ever been discovered with hundreds of testimonies that he engaged in sexual acts with trafficked minors. Idk what kind of mental state you’re in to think that Kamala did not deserve your vote (if you are even American which I doubt) but in no universe is Trump an acceptable alternative. IDC what mental gymnastics you come up with to say she was unfit to serve because it doesn’t matter. The alternative is UNIVERSES worse. If the last year hasn’t proven that to you than god help you because you are mentally unwell and should seek help.

They are just as bad. Or more accurately they are the same thing. They are both classical liberals and a classic liberal democracy is not viable. Capitalists with free reign.

Given the power of data aggregation, modeling, think tanks and llm human voters are a solved puzzle. At this point they are just testing the models.

“Says here we can do x and that will only move 3% of the electorate”. “REALLY!!” “Yep”.

The whole thing has to burn and we need some ground up reconstruction of our political system. Otherwise it’s just a dystopian cyberpunk future.

Not necessarily; some will have answered non-committally or less disapprovingly. I think the article states that only 23% approve.

“He’s doing a bad job” is pretty strong disapproval you usually don’t hear from the gen pop.

And let me just add that our language of political discourse has eroded during the past decade; one can read more and more Trump-speak (“bad job”) in headlines, it’s being adopted.

It’s probably more like 32-38% and they chose a 1-10 scale so they could round up for a better headline.

still… there would be 2 to 3 people out of ten looking at the wannabe Nobel Peace Prize guy waging wars, at the “jobs are coming back to America” guy sending unemployment rates up, at the “we’ll end inflation” guy causing $5 gas prices… should I go on? But still 3/10 people are looking at all this and think “eh, we’re doing fine!”

Nothing, and I’m sorry if my remarks may have sounded offensive to people in the US. It’s just weird from a European perspective, where an approval between 30 and 40% would make most of our governments very happy.

A while back, I’ve read an article on the Obama-Keyes race for the Illinois senate race, saying that 25-ish% is the lowest approval rate you can ever get in the US based on the fact that Keyes (who lost in a landslide but still got about 25% of the votes against Obama) was:

            a. black (so racism wasn’t a factor)

            b. not from Illinois (so that wasn’t a factor either)

            c. by all accounts, very unlikable and a complete lunatic

Sorry the piece I was referring to was much deeper but I can’t find it again, now… If they are right, this IS basically already rock bottom for Trump in terms of approval.
