Why am I getting ragged on. It just takes me a little bit to get my point across. If you have another way to post it I am all ears. And free books.
Has Anyone Really Been Far Even as Decided to Use Even Go Want to do Look More Like?
Was that the original text?
It is the text of all time.
Are these the words you meant to type?
Oh my god it’s the same person who made me think I was having a stroke with the Rodney Dangerfield post. For fucks sake, I think we’ve found a use for AI at last.
OP, allow me to help:
“Rewrite this as if your brain is not melting like a crayon that’s been farted on a thousand times a second” (and then paste in what you want to post).
How are all your posts like this… how are you a nurse???
I’m really doubting that they have read any of those books.
No I haven’t read anyone of the books. I just want to start a good library for the prisoners so they have something to do besides fight or give guards grief. And if this goes well would like to start a GED program.
Please read some of the books before you give them away. You have a fair bit to learn about the English language before you should consider teaching it.
Jfc just let the person do a nice thing
Lol, why the elitism here? It doesn’t seem like OP is trying to do anything bad.
They’re looking down on people while using terrible English.
Definitely not being elitist. It is elitist for OP to assume they need to “educate” individuals in jail because they’re a nurse. I’m a social worker and have worked with people of all backgrounds including incarcerated. I’ve learned something from every person I’ve worked with and I only teach things within my scope of expertise.
Cool. I was in prison and read a lot in prison. I was very happy that people donated those books and couldn’t give one flying fuck if they wanted me to learn something or not.
I’m surprised that a social worker would be saying “You have a fair bit to learn about the English language” to someone who is looking to donate books to a prison…
I don’t think it’s elitist to say that you should read books before you build a library. That’s just good advice. And it’s fair to wonder if someone who cannot string a sentence together reads many books.
The elitist part was saying that someone should learn more about the English language before trying to help others learn.
They didn’t merely"wonder" if someone read many books. They were dismissing someone’s desire to donate books and help people.
Okay, that was condescending. Elitist just didn’t seem like the right word to me.
Where did I say i was going to teach english.??
This is crazy
A:: I am a nurse. B: Used to be way worse and signing up for contracts that pay the most like 96 hour shifts. Sometimes I get bored and just like to toss in a subject out or question so I can read the replies. And usually not on a laptop or computer. II guess you call me a fisherwoman to reel in replies. Some are very inciteful some our stupid but everytime there is just one that I save so I can read it over and over again to kill time.
My local jail removed the library a decade ago. Regular inmates only have access to tablets for media, that they must pay for. Only people kept in the SHU/on punishment, who are denied their tablets, are given physical books, and the selection is trash. Like it’s a singular cart that is rolled around. If you have a contact with someone there, I would trust them, but if your area has a non-profit that works with the jail, you could get an unbiased take by talking to that person.
Are you asking if there is a legitimate library or stock kept, if so not in my experience. More of a there are books over there outside the cell area that you can gain access too to grab a book with supervision. They weren’t set up with spines facing out or anything, just a table, with some books stacked at the back. I’m sure they were different outside every cell block. (And that was the good behavior block that allowed people to leave to do work during the weekdays)
Kinda. They keep roadblocking me from even have a look into what I am spending my spare time and effort for. My brother was their about 2 years ago and the only books they had were a tiny cart of law books that you could only access at about midnight for 15 minutes.
You have the answer to your question right there. They won’t let you look at it because they don’t have one and are not at all interested in having one.
Prisons in the US are intended to punish people, not rehabilitate them. If you actually want change you’ll likely need to petition the governor or state representatives to sponsor legislation to make properly stocked libraries a requirement.
But good luck because that would be “being soft on crime” which is political suicide in many places.
Well fuck that and fuck them. No anger to you btw. But all it takes is one match or one ciggie to start a burn to get noticed.
Yeah, the US prison system is horrendous.
Won’t your donation be even more meaningful if it turns out they don’t have much now?
Why do you need to know that they already have a good library before you’ll help improve their library?
