Your heart’s in the right place…

But you don’t understand what’s happening and you’re just blindly lashing out and instead of asking questions you’re accusing people you don’t understand of being “them”.

Like, it’s important people stop doing what you’re doing and understand why. Because your attitude is the same attitude that gets pointed at groups by fascists.

I punched my first Nazi in highschool, but that’s because he showed me an actual swastika tattoo on his chest, not because he said something I didn’t understand.

And yet, you are not explaining your position. They were selling nazi propaganda, and should be called out for it. No “what about” or “this is also bad”. We have a nazi problem. Fuck nazis. Fuck nazi apologists.

              They were selling nazi propaganda,

Have you seen the tshirt yet?

Or are you just going off the thumbnail from the article?

That’s about the only benefit of doubt here and why I bothered replying.

              Quick edit:

Like, if you haven’t seen it yet, go look at it, and then come back and say “yeah, not that big of a deal actually”.

I can tell you about some of the reasons that Olympics was a big deal and why people would buy for reasons other than being a Nazi.

If you already seen it and acting like this…

              We’re good

Yeah, I saw the shirt. It’s not a swastika or anything, but it is celebrating the Olympics hosted by the fucking nazis, using the official designs from back then (I assume on that part, it’s what it looked like to me, as I am not knowledgeable about the decorations at the nazi olympics). So, fuck them.

The 1936, 1980 and 2008 games all feature in the range. Almost like it’s a commemoration of Olympiads not the people who hosted them.

But why the supposition that games hosted by Communist led countries are “bad” like the Nazi games?

If you want to get technical, all the games are bad because they extract vast amount of resources from people who live in the host city and leave behind unusable infrastructure. Also, the corruption. So much corruption.

I think there’s a good amount of people boycotting this games because they’re letting Israel participate so this t shirt promoting another genocidal right wing government makes sense. 2026 Olympics make genocide great again

Not really they are both far right countries that committed genocide based on their beliefs in their version of white supremacy. Zionists believe in their genetic superiority it is a supremacy movement and very much follows the same type of settler colonialist pseudoscience that fueled the justification of the genocide committed during ww2. This is worse because the world is sitting on their hands watching an entire people who were captive in an illegal occupation be systematically slaughtered while all humanitarian aid is being withheld

This looks like ragebait. No picture of the shirt, but three pictures with swastikas, plus random trump twitter posts.

      The shirt itself:

I’m not sure why anyone would want one except to be an edgelord but there’s nothing obviously offensive on it.

They released shirts of every Olympics…

The fact that the one drawing controversy sold out isn’t shocking, it’s not just edgelords and fascists buying it, “collectors”/scalpers are gonna be buying them up to flip as well.

It’s a feedback loop, the more the media makes a big deal and ignores all the context, the more demand there would be for it.

I don’t think it was strange for them to offer that shirt for sale, especially since they seem to have a print-on-demand system which does not involve any overhead for having an additional design. Offering the shirt is IMO less awkward that trying to pretend that Nazi Germany never existed.

        All three were heroes.

What’s often missed is that Peter Norman, the white guy on podium, encouraged Carlos and Smith to take a stand, and he was the one who had the idea to wear a glove each, since they only had one pair.

Norman’s role in the protest led to him never being selected to represent Australia again, even though he was at the peak of a brilliant career in running. He qualified for the 1972 Olympics, yet was mysteriously not picked to go.

The three men remained close friends, Carlos and Smith were pallbearers at Norman’s funeral in 2006.

(I hate to be the one making the Black rights protest about the white guy. He paid dearly for his role, and I also hate to think he’s remembered as the third wheel on that podium.)

I don’t think it’s making it about the white guy to honor his actions decades later. Or even a few years later.

He may not have faced oppression for his race or gender, but he did put himself aside for a greater cause and that is commendable. Sounds like a pretty good role model, in fact.

I’ve seen the photo without knowing the much you it, so thank you for sharing.
