Got to have your priorities I suppose. /s

Trump, wearing a hot dog suit: We’re all looking for the guy who did this!

I didn’t hate it but I was ambivalent. Then one day I was at work and my boss was like “I’m craving guacamole, go get these ingredients so I can make us some.” So I did and his recipe was excellent. I have been an avocado junkie ever since.

I can definitely understand this. There are so many different brands of orange juice that taste wildly different from each other. I’m pretty picky and over time I’ve learned which brands I like and don’t like, but I can completely see how you had that experience.

I thought that Anthropic et al. were charging enterprise accounts based on token usage rather than just a flat subscription fee. That’s why you see things like this.

Sorry if that’s true. I understood the word to mean aggressive growth at any cost to try and shut out competition before they can get established.

OpenAI and Anthropic will collapse in the next years
Stop, I can only handle so much good news!

I’m slightly optimistic that manufacturers will return to the retail market eventually. Every AI company is racing to hyperscale right now but there will be a point where the infrastructure is built and at that point the growth will slow down quite a bit. In that scenario there will be ongoing demand for components to be replaced as they become obsolete but I can’t imagine the demand will be the same level it is right now as everyone rushes to build.
That’s assuming this all works the way they want it to. If the economics aren’t viable and the bubble bursts…

Ok but it would take 70 users paying $200 to cover the cost of $14,000. So if one person maxes out their usage, there needs to be 69 users who do not use their account at all but are still paying. And that’s just the break even point, still no profit for the AI company.
I’m struggling to believe that many people would pay that much and then underuse the subscription. It seems far more likely to me that this pricing model isn’t sustainable.

I was called once for a case where the defendant allegedly shot the victim (who survived). During selection process we all had to stand up briefly before the court and answer several questions. One of the questions was “What was your highest level of education?” which was particularly salient to me because I had finished medical school the previous year and was in the middle of my internship. So I paid attention to who had college/graduate degrees and what their majors were.
Fast forward to time to break for lunch, after the attorneys had met with the judge briefly, and the judge announces that he is going to call out a list of names and wants those who are called to stand. I immediately notice that everyone being called is someone who didn’t go to college or anything beyond high school. At the end of the list the judge says “If you haven’t been called, you are dismissed from service.” So the lawyers had basically nixed everyone with any kind of education. I found the experience informative and disheartening.

McCarthy is an incredible writer but the tone and subject of The Road are very bleak. I enjoyed the language and author’s skill but don’t think I could reread it.
I am obliged to recommend Blood Meridian by the same author if you haven’t read it. It is one of the best books I’ve ever read. Seriously, read it if you haven’t.

Thanks for sharing that was an engrossing read. Like most of these situations it looks like there was significant system failure leading up to the event. You’re absolutely right he should have been removed long before this.

Yep, you can actually see what seems to be a microphone pack clipped on the bottom of her shirt.
If that doesn’t scream “unscripted” I don’t know what does. /s

Updating and Modernisation Required
Indeed.

He demands to know how she could possibly justify such an obscene display: “I would like to hear how you would explain to my children what you’re supposed to be.”
In the photo she is clearly dressed as a cop - how could he not recognize this?
Thank you I was reading the comments screaming why is no one pointing out that OP has it backwards!?
