on the shitpost meter, you score 50%
What?
It’s finally been getting down to the 60s F (16-21 C) here in Minnesota and I can take walks without sweating the whole way through. I’m a little disappointed to have heard we may have a mild winter this year.
Oh yeah? Cool, now turn off your air conditioning. Also RIP 6 out all your window screens. REALLY let the summer inside.
I know what you mean. But then you shoul also turn off the heating and open windows in winter to REALLY let the winter inside.
I do that when its not too cold yet so I can be comfy in my bed lol
We’re about to find out nature’s wrath with new and fun weather in every season.
summer is better than winter
you can put on more layers in winter, but you can’t get more naked in summer
It’s not one thing, it’s multiple things together.
Cold is okay alone, but add wind and/or rain and cold sucks.
Heat is okay without humidity, and as long as it still gets cool at night for a break. Heat with wind and/or rain is okay, but heat with wind and dust sucks. Dust always sucks.
Cold is okay alone
Someone’s never been where it gets -40
I can always wear more.
I can never wear less than my skin and be miserable.I do agree with that and prefer cold over hot. But when it gets down around there it’s just fucking miserable. Any exposed skin just starts to hurt so quick
I have and I’ll take it, please give me some of your cold weather. There’s only so much you can do when it becomes 110 outside. The AC is on permanently to keep it at 85.
It’s coarse and rough and irritating, and it gets everywhere
But the rain is one of the best parts
Rain when it’s just barely above freezing is terrible. Although I don’t consider anything above freezing “cold”. That’s shorts weather come April.
Having to go out in sleet can be awful yeah, I still like it though.
There’s a difference between “going out” in sleet, and survival in sleet. Granted, sleet is still not as bad as a 1 degree / 34 degree rain downpour, but I wouldn’t want to be sleeping outdoors in a month of record breaking sleet either.
I can put on 3 layers of clothes but i cannot take off my skin to get cooler
It’s also easier to add heat in a room than to remove it in my exp
“Can only get so naked” is my go to also
There is another layer.
That one is a bit scarring though.
This is only how a cold weather person thinks about heat. That’s not how real life works.
One light layer of linen is amazing. Your body does the work on its own. Touregs in the Sahara wear a light layer of light fabric. Look at Saudis and the traditional outfit. Italy in the summer. All similar. All perfectly comfortable.
Italy in the summer
Sir i am Italian
Spoiler
We also don’t have anything similiar to what u mentioned
Every time I’ve been to Italy in the summer, north or south, everyone is in summer uniform. Same in Greece, but obviously the Italian version was fancier.
Unless… Are you an 80 year old man wearing polyester and wool and a vest and a hat in August on the farm?
Seriously, though, any search online for summer Italian wear is usual light clothing.
Tell me you have been only in turistic areas where everyone tries to strut and show off to turists without telling me you have been only in turistic areas:
Sorry but that’s just a bad rappresentation of how yhe avarage people uses clothes in summer here, if you may, i think i know more how people dress here since…well i live here
Username checks out
Don’t have to shovel heat.
Don’t have to mow, rake, weed whack, or trim the cold
That’s because everything is dead and brown. I’ll take the yard work in the heat for the green.
Brown? Na it’s white.
In what century? The 20s have snow?
We’ve had those temps, and sweating all day with AC unit running sucks. I’d much rather put on a sweater if I feel chilly in the Winter.
It doesn’t typically snow enough to shovel where I live
If it gets too cold I can bundle up. If it gets too hot theres only so many clothes I can take off before that bitch Brenda goes to H.R.
See, my problem is that being too hot is just uncomfortable to me but being too cold is physically painful no matter how many layers I put on.
You need better layers then. If it’s your face that’s a problem get a good scarf and angle it so your breath blows back up over your nose and cheeks.
I’ve been out and comfortable in -30°C/-20°F, but much below that and it get tricky without goggles, and boot and glove warmers.
Fuck Brenda.
I mean, I’d rather not.
I have touch sensitivity, so I don’t like to bundle up. I’d rather just work naked from home.
do you not have aircons?
Air conditioning is uncommon in homes in Northern Europe.
Not only is it uncommon, our buildings are generally not set up for convenient installation of AC - window units are not compatible with our window types - nor have we put any effort into optimizing for keeping our homes cool, since the primary challenge we face is keeping our homes sufficiently hot for the vast majority of the year.
Retrofitting all homes to cope with our new climate reality is going to be an immensely expensive endeavour.
Also, mold. Our houses insulation often has trouble with active cooling.
Swede here, in my 38 years, I have only been in one home here with AC.
This summer me and my dad travelled down to the south of Germany to fly an airship, and to visit Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein, it was over 35C just about every day and only one hotel we stayed in had AC.
Europe does not have AC at home for the most part.
Offices is another thing completely though.
Only airpros
Winter can suck my dick. Getting through winter with myotonia sucks ass
Summer can suck my dick. Getting through summer with hyperhydrosis sucks ass.
Ha!

I wish USA would go metric so I could instinctively understand what 45⁰C is without consulting a conversion calculator. I’m guessing 45⁰C is 90-100F? BRB lemme verify … Oh jeez it’s 113⁰F! 🔥
What I did, was I just switched my phone’s weather app to Celsius and spent a year walking outside to work. It rewires your sense of temperature.
Nah, Ive lived a couple of years in places that use C but that is nowhere near long enough to fully rewire your brain. I’ll be thinking in F til I die
That sounds like a great idea! Then I remembered the reality of how I use my weather app. I use it when I’m too lazy to go outside to check the temperature IRL 😂
the rest of the world should change
Nah, we can adopt metric but I’ll never quit using Fahrenheit.
Yeah, F is just more accurate. I know you can use decimals, but I never see anyone post C temps as 20.2. It’s 20 or it’s 21, which is anywhere from 68-69.8F, expressed as 70. We’ve got a whole extra degree in there!
Honestly it doesnt matter. It depends on wind, humidity etc that difference between 20 and 21 is non-existent.
People round out time all the time, why is that different. C is more accurate, people round out of convenience. How accurate to a tenth of degree is almost never relevant. A cloud moves in front of the sun and you feel it change… so you ballpark it.
C is more accurate? Please, please explain that one to me. And don’t use the BS about water boiling or freezing because neither happen a precisely 0 or 100 where I live anyway (or almost anywhere)
45°C = humid (+40) hot desert-like climate (for middle europe)
I am still on summer side. But if one happens to want to die and chooses between heat and cold, then cold is the better option
Sadly we might not have too many years left of this debate.
OK, but who is this guy and why do I keep seeing him?
It’s this guy, and it’s just that i found a few memes with his face, so I have been posting it
I love the Indian representation :) also nutbutter is cool cuz they like Twin Peaks too :)
When its 0°K and some mf says winter is better than summer.
K does not use °, when will people learn?
Used to be correct until 1967
So it will take people more than59 years to learn you say?
Or 59 more
At least then it’s still OK.
I can always put on another layer. I can only get so naked.
