I mean, you can only kidnap people off the street to die on the frontline for so long until the country collapses completely.

Out of pure curiosity, since both countries are conscripting soldiers: what would you expect Ukraine to do? Lay down and take it? Lose their country? What do you think your country would do if it were invaded by another country? Would your country fight back or would it lay down and take it?

Russia has shown it is not willing to negotiate in good faith, every “negotiation” has been for them to keep everything they wanted, stolen from the other country. Would you surrender to an invading country even if you knew it would end poorly? Your link right there just says that they want it to end. Of course they do. That is not what would happen if they give up fighting. They have tried the “agreement” thing before and it hasn’t worked at any point. The overall lack of information in your post link pretty much makes you sound like a Russian shill. Just FYI

Now do one about Russia. Maybe the one about tricking foreigners to fight for them? Conscripting tons of people from areas outside Moscow? How about the ones where they refuse to pay out benefits to surviving family members?

“Things wouldn’t be so bad if they just stopped resisting. Why don’t they? They don’t want to fight, statistically.”

I’m amazed at how often the “rapist argument” pops up on Lemmy, in respect to Ukraine.

Yeah, maybe their civilian population is sick of war, and they don’t want to be drafted. And maybe Ukraine should make their own decisions/have their sovereignty respected. But, you know, disrespecting their sovereignty is the whole reason this is happening.

So even if you are unquestionably right, what the heck does it matter? Russia doesn’t care what Ukraine thinks, nor anything about their sovereignty and decision making power, otherwise they wouldn’t have launched a massive military invasion Ukraine clearly did not consent to.

War is hell. Too much suffering affect people rational thinking and the majority lose the will to fight.

Yeah, turns out winning a war is hard. Tell me when Ukraine loses!

P.S. sucks about those oil refineries. Flammable, ain’t they?
