not just multiple! allegedly - they say Iran destroyed 8 F-15 planes and 1 A-10 in a single strike on the ground.

And Houthis just did a literal blietzkrieg TODAY - and took several islands, huge territory and an important port - and no news outlets covering this.

This is complete failure of US intelligence and US navy, This is total failure of republican led military. how can you control the seas and let thta happen?

and guess what - red sea - closed. our fleet will have to sail back around Africa now - no I kid you not (or beg Houthis to let them pass - houthis might let em but damn this is bad)

they say Iran destroyed 8 F-15 planes

At $88M+ each. Also doesn’t help that we’ve curbed our capacity to produce this kind of aircraft over the last decade. Every lost F-15 will take years to replace, if we can replace them at all.

This is complete failure of US intelligence and US navy, This is total failure of republican led military.

Idk, man. It’s very easy to say this was an intelligence failure. But what if we had these bases with the implicit consent (or, at least, apathy) of those around them? What if there wasn’t any practical defense against an armed uprising of this scale and sophistication?

I do think westerners have this sense of invincibility, such that the only explanation for a defeat is that they misplayed a winning hand. But we fell into that trap in Korea and then in Vietnam and then again in Afghanistan and Iraq. We spend decade after decade fighting these enormous populations of anti-colonial insurgents and losing time after time.

Maybe this isn’t some kind of tactical failure. Maybe we just shouldn’t have picked another losing fight against a bunch of home grown freedom fighters Islamic Extremists when they’d just finished kicking our asses five years ago.

Who is Houthis and who did they take the islands from? And are they populated islands?

        Who is Houthis

Depending on who you ask, the rulers of Yemen, or insurgents. Houthi itself is the name of a family that most of their leadership is from.

who did they take islands from?

        Yemen

        are they populated islands?

A few people live on some of the islands and there’s a military base on Mayyun, which is the latest one captured, but the other ones mentioned are from a few days ago. Mayyun is pretty significant strategically due to its location:

The article says that it’s lightly damaged but serviceable though? Where’s your source for the F-15s being damaged?

From what I heard the repair techs can pick up the screws and stuff off the tarmac and by adding just a few spare parts we can end up with even more fighter jets than used to be there. So Irans strike actually increased the size of our Air force. Thats how hard we are winning.

It’s funny how Trump looks up to Putin, and how they are equally stupid.
They could hold a press conference together, where they both stupidly persist with the claim that everything is going according to plan. While neither is making any progress. 🤡

Putin has not lost yet. He played the USA. Trump 2 was definitely partly his doing. France and Germany are up now. If one of them turns extreme right with the next elections, the EU is in shambles. He may have destroyed the Russian economy, but he may just survive this war long enough to destroy the EU, NATO and the USA.

I’ve read so many stories where Russia is about to collapse, and then it doesn’t and suddenly it has free reign with their ballistic missiles as the Patriot missiles are out of stock, and things start to change as the EU is still afraid to really step up their game.

I absolutely can, because he is a moron that is destroying Russia just as much as Trump is destroying USA.
The idea that Putin is smart is proven utterly false.
He is a one trick pony, and that trick worked fine for years, but as soon as he was called on it everything collapsed for him.

Putin is definitely not stupid. He has been the president of Russia since 26 years (forget about Medvedev), and has turned the country completely to his hand. That is no easy feat. But when you create your own tiranny, you create the risk of tunnel vision, you create the ideal circumstances for corruption, especially in a country that was ruled by corruption for decades.

Putin is not stupid. He is blind.

You know you can be insane and shrewd at the same time. He has maintained power by being ruthless not by being smart. Unless you call it smart to make terrorist attacks on your own people to manipulate the vote. That’s his 1 trick ruthless manipulation. Being a psychopath is not being smart. And I bet his life is hell and he lives in fear, something he could have easily avoided if he had had more than 2 brain cells.

Being politically blind is also being politically stupid. Same thing.

Intelligence comes in many forms. Trump certainly has some kind of intelligence, if only that of a psychopath. Putin was a KGB officer with a high rank. You need skills to get there, you need skills to stay in power for that long. So whether it’s shrewdness or actual intelligence - he is somehow really skilled to do his job. And I long for the time that he is removed from his position, but I’m afraid that he is skilled enough to stay in power for years, and his pet Trump will not beat Putin in this regard, but I’m afraid he will live a long life.

I know right. We still love you Canada, so we’re going to send trump up there to help you make some government decisions. Call it a sleepover. We’ll drop him off alone at the border tonight, if you can come pick him up and then later tell us when he’s done there, thatd work fine. Fair warning ,he’ll need his nappies changed. We’ll send him with a diaper bag. and fair warning #2, discipline is hit and miss, but we’ll trust you to be fair-- and yes we do spankings in our house, and timeouts (aka prison).

After he’s done fixing your territory we are going to lend him to mexico, cuba, and then greenland. If need be, I hear the native Hawaiians and native alaskans also want a turn. It takes a village.
