It’s unclear how such an action would help lower U.S. borrowing costs.

Spoiler: it won’t and everyone knows it. Pretending Trump is some secret genius when he clearly isn’t just shows where the LA times loyalties lie.

What…? Seriously, like… what the actual fuck…? Is he threatening to nuke the economy by executive-ordering a halt to international trade if the fed doesn’t do what he says, which is not only deeply idiotic, but also completely unrelated to how bond rates are set…? Is that what’s actually happening here???

Lol, this is wild even for trump BS. I’d call his bluff and let his supporters see the emperor has no clothes.

If you have to vote by mail this season take steps to ensure you can get your ballot and get it delivered.

Try to avoid the postal service altogether.

For example in WA state you can print your ballot at home and deliver it to a ballot drop box.

Other states have other mechanisms to get votes counted without having to go to a polling place.

    DO NOT TRUST THE USPS.

Reps are going to steal the election anyway. Make necessary peparations.

      Nevertheless: Solid advice.

They are certainly going to try.

It’s every citizens responsibility to do whatever you can to make it as difficult as possible for those attempts to succeed.

Exactly, they can try, but you better believe we all need to fight this out at the ballot box like our lives depend upon it because if we don’t have this fight now the next fight is going to be way more terrible.

It’s so beyond the pale too. I mean yeah, numbers have been fake for years now, dating back to before covid even.

But this gigantic estimate, then getting blown out by 3x?! Bruh.

That is so much Russian talking point crap

        Provide evidence or STFU

Saying the Fed has always been lying is just trolling to sow distrust.

        We have enough already.

Well not lying, but not what everyone thinks it is.

One person picks up a side job after getting hours cut at his work? That’s a new job created, even if that person makes less than they used to.

A guy gets laid off but registers with a gig app to try to pick up some driving or delivery tasks with spotty income prospects? That person is not “unemployed”.

You aren’t recognized as looking for work despite having no job? You don’t count as unemployed either.

The “underemployed” is probably better to get an idea.

Trump issued his demands Friday in a lengthy social media post after a stronger-than-expected August jobs report, which could bolster the case for Fed officials to raise rates at their next policy meeting starting Sept. 15.

In his post, the president exhorted his hand-picked Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh, whom he called “great,” and board members to “get smart” and “BE PATRIOTS for a change.”

“LOWER THE RATE OR I’LL STOP TRADING WITH COUNTRIES WITH WHICH WE HAVE A DEFICIT,” Trump posted. “High interest rates put the U.S.A. at a very unfair disadvantage, and I won’t allow that to happen!”

    Fucking what?

Well you see diesel gasoline is at a record high price, so you don’t want people talking about that.

But who knows what this is actually a distraction from.

Especially since it just feels like imperial collapse blue balls at this point. If he did this I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if it collapsed the feds. Like remember how bad shit was during COVID? Now imagine that but worse since trade was at least moving then.

Unironically just cutting trade with basically everyone has a solid chance of triggering a bi-partisan succession crises.
