I love the movie visuals so much more. The woosh looks now detailed but it’s the vortex in the back that really sets it apart imo.

Fun fact: the actor ad-libbed in “locked” instead of “encoded” originally, and it worked well enough that it became a thing right then, pretty much.
Gary Jones is a treasure. Him, Peter DeLuise, (and the very rare Chris Judge) are easily the best of the DVD audio commentaries.

Wasn’t Chevron 9 used for the Destiny? IIRC it was because Destiny was moving, so they needed a velocity coordinate.
I’ve not seen newer series, but surely you need more than one extra dimension to capture the direction of of the velocity.
