There’s a YouTube video out there somewhere circa 2012 a dad pranked his kids by doing this, one of his kids was fat and even after the first bite when he noticed it was an onion, he kept eating the whole damn thing.
That’s kinda sad.
I got this at a friend’s party.
They were having contests like bobbing for apples and who could eat the caramel apple the fastest…, silly but fun games like that.
I won the caramel apple eating contest, but right afterwards my friend came out of the back room acting like he missed it and wanted an opportunity to win.
So he asked if I would do it again, in a 1v1 with him.
I said yes, of course, but he he gave me a caramel covered onion as a prank.
It was pretty funny. I tore into that sucker and was halfway done chewing the first huge bite before I realized something was wrong.
They said I just stopped “mid-chew” and it looked like my computer froze as my brain took a second to process what was happening.
His wife had been standing by to take a picture and I looked so completely dumbfounded.
They blew it up and put in an 8x10 frame and kept it in their living room for years.
I wish I had asked for a copy. We moved away a long time ago and I doubt they still have it.
Sounds about right, that would take a minute to compute
Fuck that sounds like a fun memory!
Caramelized onions
Caramelonions! Even the name is cool. It should be delicious!
Not the same when the onion is raw.
That’s why you caramelize the onions first.
I prefer to do it with shallots cause of the lighter flavor.
I call em CarCar’ed shasha.

Damn. Not even peeling them is extra devious.
Eew, they left the dry papery layers on there?
Funny, but I know of no parent who would ever let their kids do homemade foods on halloween.
I have a friend whose family lives giving out strange, unexpected things on Halloween. There’s the standard candy, but then there are ramen bowls, cans of fruits/beans, and even a raw onion. I wonder how many parents of the adventurous kids were legitimately worried about what their kids brought home that evening.
There’s a house in my area that gives out potatoes. Kids love it.
Then when houses run out of candy, some of the kids give them their potatoes (and candy) so more kids can trick-or-treat.
Kinda awesome seeing a 3yo get excited that they got a potato.
Trick or Treat!
¿Por qué no los dos?
Peel them first, we aren’t trying to get murdered here.
