minus-squaregray@pawb.sociallinkfedilinkarrow-up14arrow-down1·3 days agoThis is still a struggle today. Want to put a file on your iPhone or iPad from a non-mac? Good luck without some 3rd party app.
minus-squaredalekcaan@lemm.eelinkfedilinkarrow-up7·3 days agoGood luck doing any file management on an iPhone or iPad tbh. Tech companies nowadays seem desperate to make people forget how computers work.
minus-squareouthouseperilous@lemmy.dbzer0.comlinkfedilinkarrow-up1·18 hours agoTrying to make everything into the slop. Its why they love LLM’s and diffusions so much.
minus-squareLostXOR@fedia.iolinkfedilinkarrow-up8·3 days agoOn my Linux installation, I just plug it in, “trust” the PC, and I can open it in my file explorer as I would any other USB storage device. Do you need a 3rd party app to do that on Windows?
minus-squaregray@pawb.sociallinkfedilinkarrow-up6·3 days agoWhat is your secret? I’ve tried this myself and nothing happens when I plug it in. Arch with KDE here.
minus-squareLostXOR@fedia.iolinkfedilinkarrow-up7·3 days agoI think it’s thanks to libimobiledevice and ifuse, which are installed by default on Mint (but probably not Arch).
minus-squareouthouseperilous@lemmy.dbzer0.comlinkfedilinkarrow-up2·18 hours agoArch doesnt install a file system by default. That’s kind if its whole deal.
minus-squareSpaceNoodle@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up2arrow-down1·edit-23 days agoGreat point. It’s infuriating that the only inbuilt non-Apple remote file access method in iOS is SMB3, for example. Edit: downvotes? Is my technical information out-of-date or something?
