I cannot honestly blame Ed Sheeran for what happened in that case. It might have been a better look for Ed if he canceled those venues himself, but then he would have pissed off the fans. No winning for him either way in this situation.

You really think any venue would hold their ground if a huge earner like Sheeran told them to go fuck themselves? They’d fold like wet paper the second they thought the prospect of losing his ticket sales became even slightly likely. If, by some miracle they did, Sheeran could sell out any venue he decided to go to instead. He had the power, but willingly bent over a barrel and spread 'em

No winning maybe, but there’s certainly losing, which is what he’s doing by siding with people that are pro-genocide.

Ed didn’t even need to cancel anything. He could’ve said that he wasn’t going to drop Macklemore and the venues would then have to breach their own contract with him. He would’ve still gotten paid out and then some for breach of contract! But he decided to be complicit.

The production company dropped Macklemore, Ed did not have a contract with Macklemore. Ed didn’t cause any of this, he just didn’t speak up when he should have.

Production company? That’s not right and that’s never been mentioned.

It’s the several managements of the venues that colluded together to give Ed Sheeran an ultimatum which was that he either tells Macklemore that he’s dropped or they won’t host the show anymore (which includes Ed).

To add insult to injury, the venues used Ed to pass the message on to his friend, Macklemore. So obviously taking a side against his own friend by saying “hey, sorry, they decided to drop you from the show or we’re both dropped”.

So in more ways than one, Ed made the decision to drop Macklemore from his tour to ensure that he could continue touring.

Note that these venues had no problem with Kanye’s “Heil Hitler” song.

Ed Sheeran should have taken a stand for Macklemore and let the venues cancel his performance there. He can probably sue them for damages and find other venues to perform. Instead, he bent over for fascism.

He could 100% have hit a “Free Palestine” of his own, and if the venues cancel, they’re the assholes. His mealy mouthed both sides nonsense is whats fucking him up now.
