Public approval for the Iraq War hit a high of of 80% one month after the Dixie Chicks’ comments, so I think it’s a safe assumption that it was in the high 70s when they spoke out.
Had they waited until it was politically convenient to speak out, they probably wouldn’t have had the same level of backlash, but they had more spine than that.

That was truly an incredible moment in history. One of the first times that I noticed cracks in the facade of “conservative values.”
