Where the kidneys are in this drawing, is where I thought the kidneys actually are for a long time.
The only reference I had in my head was a flat face-on drawing locating the kidneys, and I thought they were near the front.

All the internal organs are laid out as though we’re seeing the front view, the proportions are kind of off, and though I’m less certain about it, the “choices” made on how to depict the hip skeleton and musculature look, well, sloppy.
