Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was personally and explicitly warned that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was planning a major attack roughly 10 days before the October 7 massacre, but dismissed the threat and did not alert his security chiefs, according to a shocking new Haaretz report.
The revelations come from research for an upcoming book Hostages: 843 Days of Abandonment, written by journalists Shlomi Eldar and Ruth Yuval, who writes for Haaretz.
I think that’s kind of the greatest trick when it comes to conspiracies, I feel like 80% of the time the “government did this”, it’s more like the government is probably better at finding out details, and… not acting. IE every pubic figure known to man, probably has 20 credible assasination plots going against them at almost all times. You don’t have to twirl your moustache and hire an assasain, you just underfund the prevention group.
From the POV of hollywood movies and the endless barrage of cop tv shows: Government competency and the competency of those considering and planning crimes is grossly overestimated.
A targeted small group of individuals will almost always hit their target. The question is how they get away afterwards and for how long.
logically I would think this, but then at the same time I think… say people crazy enough to want to assassinate major political figures and celebrities seem unconsionably rare. There’s dozens of random killings and shootings every day. Why aren’t the daily slough of school shooters going after high schools, instead of setting their sights higher on going for senators or activists they disagree with, or CEOs.
Because most murders are committed via impulsive behaviour even if they are planned in advance. The actual decision to commit to the violence is usually done in an impulsive or impaired manner.
Most people doing mass shootings are doing it to people or an environment they know and interact with, because that is what is driving their emotional state. We collectively understand that the politicians are doing harm, but we know it in an impersonal way.
