  • It would be nice… But I think we’re running into politicians discovering that the American police state is above the law.

I don’t think anyone wants to address the elephant in the room that even if the governor of a state had the balls to order state police to arrest ice agents, they wouldn’t obey the order.

Cops in Minnesota have already released press statements that they side with “law enforcement”, and you really can’t prosecute anyone if you aren’t able to detain them in the first place.

States need to start banning police fraternities and unions and firing any cop who isn’t willing to follow the rule of law.

  • The body literally makes it because you need it

    For what?

People with high cholesterol live longer…

I don’t think that’s really a conclusive study. It only focuses on people who are already 80 or older and ignores the majority of people who suffer from cardiovascular issues that don’t make it to their eighties because of it.

From this study you could also conclude that people who have a natural resistance to high cholesterol live longer.

Youd wanna lower arterial plaque so cholesterol doesnt get stuck?

Plaque forms when cholesterol lodges to the walls of arteries. This happens at a greater rate when you have more lower density cholesterol in your blood.

An arterial calcium scan is the best indicator for heart disease etc. Not cholesterol

But calcium buildups are formed from clacified plaque, which is made from cholesterol…

If all forms of high cholesterol were really beneficial Americans would modern day Methuselahs.

  • Hexbear takes transphobia and sexism far more seriously than most other instances

I disagree… When the mods handed out temporary bans for people people being sexist there were people calling them counterrevolutionary.

you’re acting like sexism and transphobia is a prominent issue on Hexbear. Hexbear

It’s a prominent issue on most all of lemmy

Hexbear can be quick to dogpile, but that’s true here on this very thread as well from Lemmy.worlders

Yeah… Lemmy.world is trash. Not exactly a place I would like to compare a place I like too.

core issue percieved with Hexbear as the leftism itself

And I would say that can be true even in most cases, but we aren’t talking about most cases. The accusation is that you are deflecting valid criticism by conflating all criticism against Hexbear as a general criticism against leftism. You know…the thing you continue to do.

strict adherance to Marxism and anarchism.

Lol, anarchist get dogpiled on Hexbear constantly.

If you can’t engage in honest discourse then I don’t think this is going anywhere. Which is another problem with people on Hexbear and sometimes .ML, people are so set on “winning” an argument they utilize logical fallacies by rote.

    Have a good one.

  • That’s true of all groups, though

To different degrees… Hexbear is particularly bad.

What sets Hex apart is the leftism.

Lol, I’m a socialist… I have a problem with Hexbear. They would much rather dunk on people than engage in dialogue and welcome people into the community.

Hexbear has obviously had issues with this to the point where the mod team has had to remove forums and put out warning to their own community to stop sexism and transphobia.

You’re just conflating any criticism of the community as criticism of leftism, even when it’s coming from people on the left. You know, the thing that stated this whole conversation.

  • the supreme Court does not interpret the constitution, they apply the constitution to laws.

That’s a pedantic dispute, they interpret the constitution when applying their understanding of the constitution to laws.

They are not some God-like Watchtower society, and when they stray, they Must be impeached.

Theoretically that would be nice, but getting two thirds of the Senate to agree on anything is unrealistic.

We, the people, elect our representation in Congress and are at fault for all of this.

Eh… We don’t exactly have a direct democracy, and the bicameral nature of our representative government was created to empower conservatives. This was made even worse by the Great Compromise.

  • No, it is not. The people have failed.

That’s a contradictory statement. The constitution is null and void if “the people” have failed to uphold it. The constitution isn’t self evident, nor is it enforceable or interpretable by any single individual. It’s a social contract defined by the courts and enforced by its martial arm.

When you swear an oath to uphold the Constitution you aren’t swearing to uphold your personal interpretation of the Constitution. You are swearing to uphold the legal definition of the Constitution, inpreted by the supreme court. A court which has made it pretty clear that prior interpretations no longer really matter.
