Ranchers and Republicans alike have pushed back on the beef plan
The Trump administration’s beef deal has met with stiff resistance from ranchers and Republicans, who argue that allowing more imports will do little to change the underlying conditions that have sent beef prices spiking, such as low herd sizes because of drought.
"Despite high beef prices in grocery stores, prices paid to farmers and ranchers for their cattle have fallen sharply over the past two months, and beef packing plants are shutting down across the U.S.,” American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall said in a statement after the plan was announced.
"Further undercutting a fragile recovery by swamping markets with foreign products and attempting to manipulate prices threatens to wipe out any progress that has been made,” he added.
Argentinian beef was recently turned away from China for being contaminated.
Hmmm…
I think it was Brazilian beef
The Brazilian beef ban in the EU hasn’t even started yet.

Neither, it’s literally Brazilian beef that’s affected (though the import ban is by the EU, so both ends of the comment were somewhat incorrect).
Who did the beef farmers vote for again?
its from Brazil. 100,000 tons of beef mince was rejected by the EU because it tested to contain numerous banned substances deemed dangerous to European citizens. Trump and co think the grey & brown mush is still ok for americans though.
likely ends up in the lowest bidder of food distribution, prison and school lunches.
There’s a really good video linked in one of the other threads that specifies the type of beef being imported(essentially beef sludge used as filler by fast food restaurants) and highlights a couple of other key points.
The two important ones are that Argentina consumes about 70% of its domestically produced beef and would never have this large of a surplus of beef byproduct in a short amount of time AND that the EU is banning Brazilian beef starting September 3rd due to antimicrobial and antibacterial contamination.
So, it’s likely that the fast food industry is getting cheap contaminated filler to keep margins high while the politicians can claim a win for grocery prices coming down - even though that won’t happen.
I’ll link the video if I can find it.

Would be funny if someone with credibility started claiming that they eat the cats and dogs

Wonder where all those wild horses ended up…
Or all those people who have disappeared from the concentration camps in florida
Humans taste like pork (generally speaking), and we cannot pass for beef.
Inb4 the mcrib is back
Not before processing.
JPMorganKraftYumBrand have been working on a special seasoning…
My money is on “ICE detention centers”.
Protein-rich, Prion-rich, sounds all the same to me!
What is tainted Argentinian beef?
I feel like this is going to end like Soylent Green…
Zippy Duvall
I ask this in good faith and in earnest search of an honest answer: are you shitting me with that fucken Ringling Bros. ass name?
Honestly, I’m not surprised at all that a good ol’ boy farmer from Georgia would have a nickname like that. Dude even looks like I imagined he would.
Compare:
Vincent Mearl “Zippy” Duvall Sr.

Zippy the Pinhead:

Uncanny, ain’t it?
“I am having fun” lmao
…temporarily surge beef imports into the U.S. to ease consumer prices.
In a Truth Social post on Friday, President Trump claimed he had reached a deal to allow up to 300,000 metric tons of meat destined to become ground beef into the U.S. to be sold at reduced prices for the next 90 days without tariffs or quotas. The plan, Trump said, would “substantially lower the price of ground beef for working American families.”
On an entirely-unrelated note, it is 70 days until midterm elections.
The worst part of this is that it’ll probably actually work knowing how fascinatingly stupid the Republican voterbase is.
I’ll happily remind you that of that voterbase, there is 71+ million people.
That’s a lot of idiots to overcome.
What’s the timeline for the Argentinian beef contamination to cause illness?
Quick enough to impact the midterms, or just to make Walmart and Kroger beef cheap and get everyone sick afterwards?
It can happen from short exposure or long term. Aplastic anemia and leukemia.
Well fuck.
Don’t worry, one of his crotch-spawn will start a business with taxpayer money that he used taxpayer money to artificially destroy supply.
