Donald Trump on Friday downplayed the toll on American sailors enduring nearly nine months at sea on the USS Abraham Lincoln as concerns escalated about mental health and supply issues aboard the aircraft carrier supporting U.S. operations against Iran.
In a brief exchange with reporters before flying to New York for an event to highlight falling violent crime rates across the U.S., Trump refuted that family members have raised concerns about the deployment’s length and even said that the deployment — which includes a record-setting uninterrupted time at sea of more than 240 days — is “not nearly long enough.”
One of the most basic lessons of Christianity is the need to ask for forgiveness. Trump once held up a bible for a photo op, we keep hearing rumblings of Christian Nationalism apparently from this current administration, and Trump now declares, “I’ll never apologize.” That’s about as anti-Christian as a message can be.
It is also a key feature of narcissism. Donnie not apologizing is not the least bit surprising.
Well, that means that, according to the corvid interpretation of Christianity, narcissists will all go to hell. That part sounds nice, too bad that other parts aren’t so good.
And it’s not only asking forgiveness that’s required, it’s sincere repentance.
It won’t even be surprising to his rabid Christofascist base. They already believe their “holier than thou” schtick puts them above apologizing.
That kind of narrative is perfect for a narcissist, by the way: the “I’m not perfect, I’m forgiven” is a great way to get out of ever apologizing for your behavior, here, in reality - “I worked it out with Jesus” is handing narcissists a perfect cop-out, since narcissists will do nearly anything but ever give a genuine apology to another human being.
Anyone that has ever had to deal with a narcissist has probably noticed they will almost never apologize.
Trump would never admit that he’s not perfect.
That’s why they refuse to actually read the Book. They really wouldn’t like the Word as-written. Because they are willfully terrible people.
Just like for everything else, Bible’s commands are for commoners. He is chosen. He’s above. He can do whatever the fuck he wants. He raped children and these good Christians, “family values” defenders, always ready to restrict everyone else’s freedom for the sake of “protecting children”, they still glorify him.
Yeah but their political cult leader trumps (pun intended) their religious cult. So they’re willing to give up their religious convictions for checks notes a non-religious felon rapist pedophile.
If people chose a liar to rule the country, then they have to live with the consequences.
