It is so revealing that instead of expressing sympathy towards the dead kids, you attack the opinion of someone who did express sympathy. Germany’s gun control failed.

It’s interesting to think of the desire to avoid Universal Basic Income in the context of Trump’s recent outburst about communism. Raimando was a democrat, not a republican. There are times when the parties sound too much the same.

Please take your personal insults elsewhere. Mine is an opinion, I am not the story.

RIP. I guess Germany’s vaunted firearm controls were insufficient?

Could be a motive to disallow the sale of cannabis seeds.

Euthanasia generally means killing painlessly. Is a bullet painless and fast? Folks who survive gunshot wounds say they felt a burning sensation. Did the canines lose consciousness immediately after being shot? Or did they live for a time afterward? Lots of unknowns.

“Miranda’s Rescue is a no-kill rescue,” the statement said. “We do not euthanize animals simply to make space. However, as we state on our website, there are rare circumstances in which euthanasia may be necessary … Whenever euthanasia has been necessary, I have notified local authorities in advance, even when told that reporting is not required.”
They seem to be equating death by bullet with euthanasia. Perhaps this news item is incomplete, but I feel bad for those dogs and their former owners.

Too much Epstein discussion lately?

I guess in addition to “No soliciting” my front door sign will also have to say “No firearms”.

The pact lists several standards for data center developments. Urban data centers should be built on abandoned or underutilized land in an area that minimizes negative impacts on noise, heat and air pollution. Developments should be fueled by renewable energy and battery storage, and data centers should reduce water use and emissions, as well as capture waste heat.
…
As of Tuesday, none of Southeast Asia’s cities endorsed the pact. Several said they couldn’t because of national policies or other complications, but the conversations are ongoing, C40 said.

How many words do you require? I wrote, “There’s no climate change.” The Trump admin is well known for considering climate change a hoax. However, this story is what I had in mind when I wrote that sentence, I’m pretty sure it was a Lemmy.world link from the same day, although I do get text-based news elsewhere.
I also wrote, “Renewable energy plants are too expensive!” Note the exclamation point"!". I often use it instead of a smiley or a sarcasm mark. Sarcasm doesn’t really apply to a truthful observation, such as “I wish it was sarcasm,” and I’m often in a state of indecision in such cases. But perhaps my posting history would explain better? I’m not sure what 35 square miles of photovoltaics would cost, I seem to recall “billions” of dollars being mentioned. What is the cost of some natural gas turbines in comparison?
Do you suppose if and when Democrats take back power from Republicans, these natural-gas turbines can be legally shut down and renewable-energy plants mandated? Will they be allowed to continue operations instead? Do you suppose that the powers that be will just extract every last barrel of crude they can extract and turn it into CO2?

There’s no climate change. Renewable energy plants are too expensive!

You’re an optimist.

… Israel has continued its near-daily attacks on Lebanon despite rebukes from US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
The only US rebukes they will understand is cutting off the US military and financial teats.

Each datacenter probably needs something like 35 square miles of photovoltaics. They’d be seriously large renewable energy systems. He didn’t do it because they’d have higher upfront costs than the turbines.

Musk builds electric cars, but doesn’t run his datacenters on solar-photovoltaic with battery storage?

Seems kinda like a pecking order. Target the young ones. And by prohibiting kids, you can ID everyone.

If the US had allowed Chinese EV automobiles to be sold in the US market, would Musk’s fortune be smaller? He’s diversified now, so probably less risk to him at this point.
$5 million shouldn’t be a problem for him since the reported $1-2 billion he reportedly earned with crypto scams.
