As far as I can tell there is actually a big surge right now. They just stopped making idiotic trolly social media posts about it, and people are bored of it so the media is reporting on it less.

In my area (Northern California) this is by far the highest level of ICE activity we’ve seen so far.

Let’s all try to bring more attention to this. We need more people protesting, monitoring/filming ICE, basically creating as much attention and friction as possible.

In most areas, there are activists organizing to track ICE activity so I highly recommend volunteering with them. In my area NorCal Resist is the most prominent organization doing this work but if you’re elsewhere I am sure you could find a similar group with a web search.

There has been a noticeable amount of ICE all over here as well. The problem is that almost all of our Latino population is from Puerto Rico. So they have been harassing people on the street, kicking in doors, and beating people up, but making few arrests, and almost no sustained charges. This is a problem for them because their good standing clause to not pay back their bonuses is based on getting people actually deported. So the ICE agents here are crying about how they might end up bankrupt because they spent those bonuses, and can’t afford to pay them back.

Seeing ICE fascists getting fucked and losing out on their bonus is funny to me. Maybe it wasn’t clear but I was specifically talking about that part.

Oh, this wasn’t your fault, for some reason my profile had your comment under a different comment where this would make no sense. Gonna delete that. Sorry about that.

    Oh hell yes they are.

The National Guard is still walking around DC, doing nothing.

I am not sure if your comment is serious or not, but if you are in the National Guard, that would be a damn good deployment to get.

Unlike Operation Lone Star where you are sitting out in the Texas desert going insane and being fucked out of benefits, a DC tour is just waddling around Georgetown, The National Mall while staying in apartments and hotels and as it is a federal deployment you get the pay and retirement benefits.

I am sure you would have some downtime to see the sights, Trump and MAGA America are fucking up the Smithsonian, but there are other great sights to see.

I was kind of alluding to like cops getting put on desk duty, where there is no action or anything fun just paperwork.

They’ve actually increased activity in much of the country. They’ve just not been shoving it in everyone’s face like Bongino did.

All information is suspect because the right wing media is complicit and that’s most media.

I hear about it. I’ve even been reminding people that ICE went without funding from January to June thanks to DNC refusing every budget where they had any, until Republicans passed a reconciliation budget with simple majority in house and senate. That gap of funding might be why you didn’t hear about it for a little while.

They’ve always had funding. The more recent budget funds then through 2028.

Incorrect. The government was in shutdown at the start of this year because funding had already ran out, then it reopened without DHS funding which was later limited to only without ICE funding.

The One Big Beautiful Bill funded the majority of ICE through the shutdown - some civilian support positions were affected, but enforcement activity stayed pretty much the same. The reduction in coverage is far more likely due to both Noem and Bovino being kicked out of their jobs, taking their high-confrontation tactics with them. Homan is doing the same work, just in a quieter, less confrontational manner.
