Took him long enough to notice this.
It would be nice if they would regulate it to reduce the abuse and misinformation rather than claiming to make it “safe” by giving everyone’s personal details to the abuse factory via OSA and “childrens” (anonymous people’s) social media ban?
Don’t we have Ofcom who are supposed to protect the public from harmful communications?
took her long enough
Nandy says she will remain active on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
In what universe are these suck services any better than Twitter? She has accomplished nothing by moving away from Twitter while staying at these suck services.
Those other services are not great but they are at the very least not actively promoting AI-generated child abuse imagery. It’s an incredibly low bar, but they do pass it.
Pretty sure Facebook actually does.
But they dont generate it themselves, making twitter uniquely bad
Meta is running ads that promotes child sexual abuse material with actual kids is as low as it gets. It’s far worse than any AI slop.
facebook has admin controls for the user, so they can delete any dissenting opinion. thats why alot of people who have controversies flee to facebook, so they can delete block all criticism
It’s like with planting trees. The best time was to plant some 50 years ago, the second best time is now. But it is too late in many ways.
Surely the second best time was 49 years ago
Don’t call me Shirley.
That any government or public figure would subject the public to X’s cesspool in order to contact or keep up with them is as fucked up as the platform itself. It’d be less fucked up to paste government news bulletins onto the walls of a crackhouse.
Who cares? Is anyone still on X other than bots, nazis, and a few misguided journalists?
Hasn’t been relevant since 2019
A bunch of politicians and government institutions for some reason…
Edit: That is also why the journalists are there
Years too late, mate. Get onto Bluesky!
Just no, move to Mastodon. Bluesky is the red headed step child of X
For anyone who cares, Bluesky is not meaningfully decentralized and can be easily censored.
Mastodon cannot be censored in the same way, thus no long-term enshittification. If you’re going to switch away from Twitter, give Mastodon a try. It uses the same tech/protocol as Lemmy, Piefed, Loops, Pixelfed, m/kbin, etc.
I’ve never really been that interested in Twitter so I have kind of ignored Mastodon, is it just open source Twitter or is there any meaningful improvements?
it’s basically twitter.
I will say, the cool thing about it is the interoperability between ActivityPub platforms. For example, from my mastodon account, since I’m subscribed to some hashtags I’m interested in, I occasionally see posts from Lemmy/Piefed (reddit-like), Pixelfed (Instagram-like), Loops (Tiktok-like), etc. I can comment and like without having to create accounts on the other platforms. It’s definitely more aligned with what the open web should look like, although could use some UX and discoverability improvements, as I’m not entirely sure how some stuff works, but it’s been interesting to try it out.
The differences are mostly around consent. Eg. You cant quotetweet without the author setting a flag to allow it
Get in now before the enshittification.
Oh that’s great, a meaningless gesture from someone in a job that she probably won’t even have in a couple of weeks.
