Seriously every other post, every sub seems like nothing but politics. It’s so boring and disgusting. What made reddit great at one time was the diversity of genres and depth. Lemmy is very shallow and politically motivated it seems. I have been here since the Reddit exodus. It’s always been this way.
Do different Lemmy servers have different content?
Are certain severs curated?
Where do I find the depth and deep subject matter.
Be the content you want to see.
Also, it’s odd to equate deep subject matter with a lack of politics.
Politics is just things i consider controversial.
OP is not the only one who has noticed a lot of content on here is shallow&political
You can curate your own feed: use the block button for any communities you don’t want to see.
As for why there’s a lot of politics on lemmy: The west’s leading country just threatened to annihalate an entire civilization yesterday. Kind of a lot going on right now.
So you fled one billionaire-owned political echo chamber for an open-source lefty platform only to realize you actually just miss cat pics and woodworking tutorials.
Boring and disgusting? Sounds like you just don’t agree with lefty politics.

Its not that I don’t agree with left politics at all. I just am bombarded with anything political overall on Lemmy. I am less concentrated on whether I agree and more into the creativity and education side of content I think. I will try the blocking of keywords feature to tone it down. I don’t mine some. Just not every post or 3.
“why do people care so much about the possibility of nuclear war? why is this hitler guy so controversial? so disgusting!”
If you haven’t notice yet, the world is burning. It’s burning due to the actions of rich political people. That’s really important. People tend to talk about stuff like that.
Comment section of this post is not beating the allegations
The post isn’t beating the allegations. Wanting to avoid political discussions is inherently political.
You’re setting up a rhetorical double-bind
Umm ok? Yeah, politics are being discussed everywhere. That’s because politics are important. People trying to bury their heads in the sand and pretend they’re not are a big part of why things are going to hell.
If you don’t like political posts, don’t read them.
If you don’t like political posts, don’t read them.
If only it were that simple. These nerds pop up all over the place. Like when I posted about the World Cup, nothing but politics-nerds in the comments: https://lemmy.ml/post/45406364
There’s only 1 (possibly 2, depending on how strictly you define politics) root comments on that post related to politics.
The main reason people moved out of reddit was a political one lol, of course we are going to get political here.
Raising quality of life for all human beings will inevitably result in more people who can share your online hobby discussions. Time to get on board
Sorry, everything is politics not just on lemmy
no it’s not
The fact that you’re so avoidant of the inherent politics of the everyday world is a reaction desirable to the status quo, which is itself political. Congratulations, your kind of politics is status-quo-enjoyer which kills countless people every year for you to remain comfortable and blind to politics.
your kind of politics is status-quo-enjoyer
Thank you for telling me what my kind of politics is.
Do I owe you a fee for the diagnosis?
This is a bit, right?
You can’t find depth and deep subject matter in politics? Sounds like a you problem
Because all media is political
Drop some cool memes into lemmy and make it better for all of us.
Everything is politics. Avoiding thinking about or discussing consequential things is a political position which is well served almost everywhere else on the internet.
Ironically, due the nature of the language used in their complaint and its similarity to psychological operations conducted by COINTELPRO, @OhVenus_Baby@lemmy.ml seems “shallow and politically motivated”.
Depends on what you define as “politics” but aside from “everything is politics”, my Lemmy feed is mostly tech stuff. Just subscribe to communities that fit your interests. That being said, many interests will be under-represented on Lemmy as I think the user base skews either technical or political or both.
