The people in that orbit are greedy sociopaths who can only be kept in line through fear. Once he dies, the fear vanishes and they’ll turn on each other so fucking quickly.

      I can’t wait for it.

That system was well set up for power passing to a hereditary successor. The U.S., not so much. Trump has no interest in laying the groundwork for a smooth transition for an eventual successor, because he cares too much about himself.

I’d argue that Trump has actively worked to make sure there’s no heir apparent to the magat throne, because an heir is a potential threat.

Just a wierd example, I guess. Some authoritarians want to keep their lineage in power. Others, like Trump, can’t stand the idea of sharing the limelight with anyone else so there’s a free for all when he loses power. Same with Stalin.

“To ensure a full succession of leadership to his son and designated successor Kim Jong Il, Kim turned over his chairmanship of North Korea’s National Defense Commission – the body mainly responsible for control of the armed forces as well as the supreme commandership of the country’s now million-man strong military force, the Korean People’s Army – to his son in 1991 and 1993.”

I think its more likely they’ve already got plans in place to turn that horde against the left by trying to blame the “evil woke communist liberal socialists” for his death, to avoid the Oroborus…if at least temporarily.

Yeah, I don’t see Vance having the same pull, but then I thought it was a joke when Trump announced his bid for the presidency, so I don’t trust myself to understand what these people are thinking.
