Why would the cashier tell me that I put the receipt in my bag?
Some people like to track receipts for bookkeeping or needing a return. Knowing you actually got a receipt vs. the cashier assuming you don’t want it and throwing it away.
It was a joke. Everything is self-checkout nowadays, so the cashier just narrating the play-by-play
Self checkout, makes more sense. In some places you have to scan the ticket to open a gate so that you can leave.
I saw a different work by this artist, they are profoundly unsettling in person.
