Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced Monday that body cameras would be given to federal immigration agents across the country, starting in Minneapolis, where two U.S. citizens were shot and killed by agents in the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.
“As funding is available, the body camera program will be expanded nationwide,” she wrote on social media. “We will rapidly acquire and deploy body cameras to DHS law enforcement across the country.”
Noem did not specifically say agents would be required to wear the cameras.
They already had them before trump. CBP removed them first thing when trump entered office last year.
Does anyone think high school dropout fascists are going to turn their bodycameras on?
Does anyone think their fascist bosses are going to punish them when they don’t?
Our fascist government is trying to hide and protect multiple people who executed American citizens in our streets.
We already have video of Americans being executed and their bosses chose to protect them despite the video evidence.
If you find yourself believing anything a fascist says, it’s time to seek therapy.
With as much as cameras have failed to reduce violence by the ordinary police, I can’t see this as much more than a payday for Axon. They’ve been fighting for ICE to get cameras for a while now. As another comment stated, lack of video evidence does not seem to be the weak link in fixing the violence perpetrated by ICE.

Axon Enterprise, Inc., a weapons company and the country’s largest manufacturer of body-worn cameras, has lobbied aggressively since July on the $64 billion Department of Homeland Security spending bill that lawmakers passed on Thursday. The company’s CEO, a regular campaign contributor to Republicans, also donated directly to key Democratic lawmakers who pushed for the body camera measures.
Now, the company is well-positioned to reap the benefits of the $20 million allocated by the legislation for body cameras as part of ICE’s extended $10 billion budget
Axon has faced lawsuits for monopolizing the police body camera market and raising prices on local government contracts. Its profits have soared despite recent studies casting doubt on body cameras’ ability to curb law enforcement misconduct.
Axon spent at least $1.4 million on lobbying in the last half of 2025, including on the Department of Homeland Security spending bill “for body worn cameras” and other technology, according to recent federal disclosures. Axon’s nearest competitor, Motorola Solutions, also lobbied on the homeland security appropriations bill.
Democrats on the Appropriations Committee touted the provision as an accountability measure. Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), the top recipient of campaign cash from Axon executives ($20,073), including the company’s CEO, reintroduced legislation to do so last week. Gallego cosponsored the bill alongside fellow Arizona Democrat, Sen. Mark Kelly. Axon is headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Not trying to single out Dems in this specifically, they are just the more surprising individuals involved. It just makes me mad that something like this that should be a win for the public seems moreso to be a win for every but the public.
Two people were murdered by these fascist freaks with dozens of angles on each of them and none of them are being thrown in jail for murder so what the fuck will body cameras do huh?
Renee Good’s murderer recorded the incident on his own phone, which was then released as if it was somehow evidence of his innocence.
And they just seem to never have any luck with these cameras when they do have them. They always seem to be off somehow or missing when we need them the most. If they do work, there’s always some unfortunate technicality blocking the FOIA requests. Even the cameras monitoring the most important criminals’ jail cells go on the fritz at just the right moment for them to inhume themselves. But we keep on buying them and paying for all that cloud storage at monopolistic prices.
I wonder what would happen if we spent this camera and other ICE money on providing an efficient means to citizenship instead… 🤔
The fact that she’s in favor of this tells me it’s a completely worthless reform
It’s wrose than useless.
There is barely a lack of third party video evidence. And in cases where we don’t have those, a body cam is useless… unless there is a guarantee a) they are running and b) the footage is accessible.
So handing out body cams will not help in any way. I won’t be a deterrence for officers if they have control when to activate it. It will rarely produce footage incriminating officers and if it does that footage will be held back anyway.
There is however a reasonable chance to capture enough footage that can be framed (or straight out manipulated) to show those violent protesters they crave for their narrative.
At least the ice agents won’t be distracted by filming protestors on their own phones.
Honestly, useless or not, if they’re carrying guns, they should be wearing body cams no matter what.
Given they’ve already proven themselves willing to use AI fakery as a tool of deception, this sounds like the first step in releasing “proof” that the protestors are actually domestic terrorists.
I mean, it’s all in the summary. The agents won’t even be forced to use them. As if this meaningless gesture couldn’t be more hollow and performative.
Very expensive though. Who pays for that?
I mean, you (if you’re American) and me. Taxpayers (via the BBB that Trump and his accomplices in congress) have given the DHS/ICE so much money, I doubt Noem would blink at spending tens of millions of our dollars on a PR stunt.
So now everytime they shoot someone they can just claim the footage is evidence and can’t be released while also convincing some people they don’t need to film anymore. That’s my guess, at least.
Noem should be forced to wear a bodycam whenever she interacts with politicians.
They didn’t have those before? Damn!
It’s so her goons can LARP as Call of Duty players in first person.
I hope that doesn’t take away from her wardrobe/costume budget. /s
Weaves aint cheap!
But she is.
