Imagine if the Diem regime had endured in Vietnam and we still had to listen to insufferable America-brained fascists insist reunification was bad because Ho Chi Mein was a baby eating monster.

There are ugly scars like this crisscrossing the planet - from Haiti/DR to Israel/Palestine to India/Pakistan to the US/Mexico border. Places where some colonial shit drew a line in the sand and poisoned millions of people against one another. And now we’re supposed to believe slaughtering anyone on the wrong side of the line makes the world a better place.

You’ve gotta be pretty deep in the kool-aid to equate “North Korea is a pretty fucked up dictatorship” to “I wish white imperialists owned everything.” Then again, when you spend your time online attaching your ego to various fascist dictatorships, it’s going to result in some weird perceptions.

You can be upset about the split of Korea without necessarily endorsing and calling for all Koreans to be controlled by a hereditary absolute monarchy with red paint.

calling for all Koreans to be controlled by a hereditary absolute monarchy

Look up what a Chaebol is. Five/Six (depending on how you count them) aristocratic families control virtually the whole country.

That’s exactly how the current South Korean state operates.

Didn’t the South Korean government just narrowly avoid a Parliamentary coup a few months ago? Wasn’t this instigated by a President who claimed the entire opposition party was North Korean spies and infiltrators, and that he needed to seize power on the grounds that they’d be rounding up everyone who disagreed with them and have them executed if he didn’t?

It seems like South Koreans have been promoting the “In North Korea, everyone kills one another for treason constantly” Red Scare mythology for so long that they’re destabilizing their own country’s national leadership fighting these phantoms.

And the President was impeached for it. No-one in Korea genuinely believed his excuse for the attempted coup. Korea is far healthier at dealing with corrupt presidents than the USA.

                My brother in Christ…

Your actual credit score is far more of a burden on you than the fantasy one you’ve invented to scare yourself.

Do you want to move to North Korea?

They execute people for watching South Korean soap operas.

No one is buying your pretend concern about colonialism.

This is such a chud-brained response. Do you want to move to South Korea?

No they fucking don’t, you dweeb. Pull your head out of the Yeomni Park rumor mill.

Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t mind visiting North Korea (or the northern part of unified Korea), but only after the senior leadership is put on trial and executed and all fake commies either interned or required to do community service work.

We both know you would never go to North Korea. They wouldn’t even believe a tankie like you, they would assume you’re grifting teenagers for donations by pretending to be an edgelord communist. They may be cruel, but they are not stupid.

“Anything I don’t like is a BIA conspiracy” is not a real argument.

I would rather move to South Korea than North Korea. I would also rather move to many other countries over North Korea. Does me not doing so specifically undermine any issues with North Korea?

Why can’t someone tell you to move to North Korea, since you seem to love it so much.

South Korean immigration policy is the model Americans are adopting. Their treatment in the US is paralleled by their treatment of foreign South Pacific workers on the peninsula.

There’s been long-standing conflict between Thailand and SK over the heavy handed SK treatment of Thai nationals.

Treatment of North Korea expats is even worse.

Mrs. Kim doesn’t discuss much about the North outside of missing her family, most notably her daughter. Her tragedy, being kidnapped, forced to remain in the south, attempting suicide multiple times, and forced to carry on is one of the most heart-rending testimonials from a “defector”.
