Genuine question, why are they doing this. These guys have to know climate change is real. Even if they didnt see that its real, they surely see the potentialy enormous profit potential. So are they doing this to deliberately destroy the planet. Like this movie The Arrival 1996

Extreme levels of greed that makes them sociopaths and bent on destroying the world. They need to face justice immediately.

My guess is because they got behind on the R&D to produce technology that would guarantee them a large market share in renewable energy. So while they throw some money instead of all of it at catching up, they want to throw down anchors and use as many gullible people they can to keep their current large market share sectors up and going for as long as possible.

If someone told these people they could either make 50,000,000 a year or 55,000,000 a year but they had to drive over babies in a tank to get the extra 5, they would run the babies over every time. A sane person would say making 50 million a single time would have been enough to retire.

If they actually wanted to help the people and bring prices down they they would fight for something like “No company can pay anyone more than 30x what any other employee makes” (including all stock benefits/bonuses/etc). So if someone at the company only makes $10 an hour… the most anyone at that company can bring home is $624,000 in total payout that year. If anyone gets paid more than that, they should pay every employee (contractors included) a flat amount equivalent to it. So if someone makes a 1,000,000 they have to give an extra 276,000 to every employee.

That would force them to raise the payments of all their lowest wage employees continuously to be able to have higher wages themselves. Putting more money into the economy, and slowing the wage gap.
