  • Learn to save money. Not as in “don’t buy a 5$ coffee, millennial” but fixing things.

I’m kind of a DIY guy and it’s saved me a lot of money at random times. Knowing how to safely replace an outlet, a power supply for the dish washer, various little repairs on the car, etc. It might not save a lot though since you’re renting.

Also, the United States is over educated in the wrong fields. A lot of trades are desperate for competent workers, and are willing to pay good money for it. Due to the collective societal brainwashing of “work white collar or you are stupid” became a self fulfilling prophecy, there are few left who do good work

Even if you don’t have money for classes, you can save enough for the most basic of tools and start practicing until you can try for a job.

Libraries are also a valuable source of knowledge for begining a new career.

  • Notification light. Repairability (I can practically op this thing open like the hood of a car). Far cheaper options. Headphone jack. Side loading. Fingerprint sensor. Dedicated shutter and focus button. Non proprietary charger that isn’t terrible. Emulators. Firefox plus adblocker. Customisability (least important for me honestly).

I am just happy that I have options. I can do whatever I want with this hardware. I own this device and have complete freedom. I work in repair and I am thoroughly aware of apple’s anti-consumer practices and it disgusts me. I could never buy a device from apple out of principle.

It sickens me when I have to tell customers “your totally repairable device is fucked because apple makes it arbitrarily impossible to repair.”. It makes me even sadder when they just buy another apple device, rewarding them for their behaviour.

Gun laws are ineffective. There is zero correlation between gun deaths and strictness of gun laws. Despite limits and bans of short barreled rifles, “assault weapons”, machine guns, etc, gun deaths have continually increased.

Gun bans are only effective where there already isn’t violence, at which point it’s redundant.

I believe the culprits behind widespread American violence are high rates of youth delinquency and gang related criminal activity.

  • Those who say this are usually frustrated by the increasing number of misunderstandings/miscommunications due to increasing English illiteracy. Its become more difficult to communicate to those around you.

It’s utterly unacceptable behaviour but I believe the issue lies deeper than simple “racism”. I also sometimes find it frustrating from the sheer volume of people that can’t speak English, from coworkers, customers, fellow students, etc. I don’t even live near the border, where the problem is much worse.

I think it’s because of Americanized potato salad. The kind with miracle whip and tons of corn syrup. I’ve had mayo based salads like this and it makes me want to puke (as an American lol)

I think this plays with the stereotype that weird eccentric middle aged people like weird/gross food. Sort of like jello salad coincidentally (search it up, it is foul).

  • I think it would be nuclear warfare. Nuclear fission is a universal development for any advanced civilization. It would be easy to construct a nuclear bomb in an advanced civilization. Once a few rogue/pariah states start making them, everyone’s screwed.

Making nukes is easy, the only reason we don’t see more nuclear states on earth is because of the international backlash. With a couple more Iran and North Korea’s we’ll likely meet the filter ourselves.
