I would ride it out assuming inflation and rising cost of living didn’t exist. Well, those things do exist. The question you need to ask yourself is if you would be unhappy living with the spending power of ~60% of what your spending power is now. If the answer is anything other than a solid yes then you should be looking.

Finish up any schooling and get a new job lined up before you leave your current job. The current job market is incredibly toxic and near impossible to navigate. People are posting vague job descriptions they have no intentions of hiring for to make it look like they are growing when they are really stagnating. AI is being used to push highly skilled workers back into the market.

Discord also has a tendency to block connections on its desktop app when it detects you are connected to a VPN. They aren’t particularly consistent with their security policies, but their app becomes more of an unusable mess every day.

Discord is NOT going to get better. Their new CEO came from Activision and they are going to do everything in their power to enshittify the platform and cut down on support costs.

Protection through obfuscation is not real protection. This has been an ongoing thing in the security world and is especially relevant for software. All obfuscation does is protect you from script kiddies (which AI isnt) and make the actual process slower for legitimate users. Like all DRM it only really hurts the people legitimately using your software.

Yeah, it is piracy that is bleeding you dry, not the overly expensive merchandise or archaic business practices. And it surely isn’t the lack of simultaneous international licensed releases while operating at a scale that assumes such sales.

Japan’s entertainment industries have always been archaic and draconian. If you want to operate on an international scale you need to abide by international practices, and if you operate only on a local level then you can’t use international piracy as an excuse for a lack of sales.

“He wanted to make Germany great” is the goal. “By getting rid of all the undesirables” is the path. The goal is good. The path is bad.

Take a step back, calm down, and think instead of having extreme knee-jerk reactions to everything. Admitting there is something else besides 0 and 100 and that nuance exists would be a great start.

Edit: And before anyone tries to put words in my mouth, the goal mentioned above was probably not Hitler’s goal. I do not support any of his human rights violations or his well-known ideologies. (I simply do not know enough about his lesser known ideologies or motives to make an educated assessment). Hitler was bad. Nazis were and are bad. The Tesseract developer did not kill millions of people.

Silencing thousands of people and communities was NOT the goal - don’t get that wrong. The goal was to give users a place where they didn’t have to deal with trolls and the negativity of the world. Silencing users and instances without telling anybody or giving them the ability to toggle that on and off is completely off the correct path.

The goal was great, but you were going backwards. Just because you had a good goal doesn’t mean you were walking the right path to get there. There definitely needed to be some self reflection here, both from the guy that though putting a DDoS into the software was in any way a good way to prove you stood on the moral high ground and from the communities that thought death threats were the appropriate response to this situation.

Their valuation was made based on the potential for every company to be using the product. No other companies outside of Musk-owned ones are valued that way. Many are valued on the average of a few years of revenue multiplied by 10.

It is blatant corruption and market manipulation. Anybody investing in such a company should expect to be holding bags within 24 hours.

I’m getting older and more tired. I don’t have the energy to deal with what is a high chance of intentional trolling, misinformation, or smearing. People intentionally twisting my words to be politically opposite of what I said has been on the rise over the last year or two, and I simply dint want to interact with people who are malicious or blindly support what someone says without actually reading the context.

You are really picking at straws here to justify being mad. Most storefronts, Steam included, take 30%. Humble is also pretty transparent about how the money is divided up. When you attempt to adjust the Humble slider you will notice that part of the bar is grey. This is the fixed minimum cut that Humble has to take for operating expenses.

For simplicity let’s say teach bar has a Min of 0 and a Max of 100. NOTE that there are no units. Bar 1 is set to 100, bar 2 is set to 70, and bar 3 is set to 0. This is absolutely valid. What this means is “for every 100 units sent to 1, send 70 units to 2 and 0 units to 3”. In this case you can assign currency as the units. “For every dollar sent to 1, send 70 cents to 2 and 0 cents to 3”.

One is for HR to use to immediately reject your application. The other is to train their AI model.

This is a pretty bad take. It is the same as saying “I don’t care that these workers are underpaid and overworked - just let me (other people) enjoy the game.” No, bitch. Morally righteous people can’t stomach when that escape was created or funded by the people they are trying to escape from.

People complain because they are passionate about it. This goes for the entire thread - if you are tired of hearing people bitch about it, don’t just plug your ears. Do something about it or piss off.

This may explain why the same code review feedback needed to be written in every single PR made by our Indian offshore team. Either they didn’t give a shit, were incapable of learning, or used AI (which implies not giving a shit). I don’t understand how people can have so little pride in their work. Please do not drag other people down because you don’t want to do your job.

Nothing is going to happen to the stock, unfortunately. Too many rich people would lose too much money if it tanked, so they will keep it overinflated and overvalued by any means necessary.
