All cars built after September 2027 in the US must have surveillance technology on board to detect impaired drivers and restrict the operation of the vehicle if impairment is detected. This includes drowsiness. Which means they can track your eyes. Not a big step at all to not only detect if a phone is in use but to record that data.

I don’t believe hands free is a safe as people think. It’s the divided attention that’s the problem, not having only one hand on the wheel.

I was living with my sister in a condo. We frequently played pool at a place across the street. It was a sort of yuppy pool place, not a biker bar. It was located on the end of a strip mall. To get there, we walked to the end of the row of single story condos, then through some bushes and into the sidewalk, jaywalked across the street and into the parking lot.

So we’re doing this and just as we reach the sidewalk on the other side of the street, a car pulls out of the parking lot, like normal, and turns in our direction. Just behind it another car pulls out very quickly, not like normal, it overtakes the first car and forces it up onto the sidewalk where we are walking. Suddenly like three other cars pull in from multiple directions. We are literally standing in a police arrest scene. So glad when the perp went up on the sidewalk, he took care not to run over us. I guess the cops never expected people to suddenly emerge from the bushes and cross the street just at that moment.

Meh, not really a big difference there, but I guess that DOES make it the trick.

I don’t understand this at all. I thought it was illegal to have possession of child pornography. In fact isn’t that what CBP, said they were looking for on the guy’s phone when they put in the code and it wiped itself? So it’s legal to generate it, but not possess it? WTF? Did I hear wrong?

I have to say, this whole Iran war thing has really opened my eyes to what is going on. Because we spend nearly $1T a year on our military, my assumption was that there was no military objective we couldn’t meet. Pretty much take on the rest of the world if necessary, since we spend nearly as much as the rest of the world combined.

Then they light off a bunch of stuff in Iran and everyone is like, “welp, we’re out.” Really? That fast? Guess all of that money was getting stolen as well. I should have known.
