The social deregulation of sex (it used to go hand in hand with marriage, even in Europe!) has created a bit of chaos.

I have a feeling that signing a whole legal document/ screaming to the four winds (both families included) you will be having sex with this person did a lot for consent. But I understand, marital rape. Divorce is a thing though, and always should have been, but some cultures have been historically more brutally misogynistic than others…

Yeah women have famously never had really really bad times with marriage

You know how the suicide rate among women plummeted when no-fault divorce became a thing? Total coincidence

It should’ve always been a thing and in certain places of the world it was. Don’t complain about your past cultural norms when I’m advocating for the mere social recognition/public announcement and acceptance of a couple of people of age and reason, which is what I’m talking about here when I say ‘marriage’. Women used to be witches to be burned at the stake in the West not too long ago, I’m not at all surprised that women are disregarded and abused still…

Everyone makes choices for themselves. That’s an attempt at a childish hedonistic argument (“bro, YOLO, why so serious?”). Marriage is nothing more and nothing less than publicly asserting your decision to be a couple and start a family unit, with the assent of your community. Today there are rites and legal documents to sign but it’s the same at its core, which is why cohabitation laws making some sense. If you’ve met the in laws and take your partnership seriously, that’s it. But many people today are pure unthinking hedonists and way past the age of discovery (+25, c’mon, even your brain is fully formed!), or too fearful to start a relationship with another human being in earnest, and that’s it I guess.

Yeah, those people are ridiculous. Unthinking hedonists are the worst. That’s why I only hang out with thinking hedonists. We do thorough research on the drugs we use to understand the potential downsides, risks, and benefits, and we carefully consider who to allow into our orgies based not only on looks, but also on how likely they are to have stis or cause drama. Reasonably considered hedonism is a much better way to live your life.

Wrong. Marriage is legally binding and affects people’s taxes and medical authority.

Wealth inequality is basically the only issue that matters. Every other problem stems from that.

No, people are aimless and in times of great wealth they just turn to hedonism and lose sight of the bigger picture. Man needs more than bread…
