The only emotional support i have found is from myself. When friends/family say “don’t worry, buddy, it will get better” i recognize that they mean well but those sayings do nothing for me—in fact, they feel invalidating of my emotions.
Exactly! In contrast to that, if I experience “it getting better” it’s a totally different thing.
When a friend of mine needs help I try to be sensitive but it’s still possible that I’ll drop a “Don’t worry, buddy, it will get better” myself.
It’ll be honest, though.
