Why do people keep voting for these ass-hats? They are never “for the people” and always try to grab more power that belongs to them.

      Cause

      • Lula’s term was a lukewarm nothing burguer

      • which shot itself on the foot year one by limiting how much the govmt can invest

      • Lula is campaigning as if it was 2022

      • both sides are campaigning on “least bad”

      • Out of 26 yrs in this millenium, Brasil had a Workers Party govnmt in 18. People want something different

      • Lula / PT work really hard to de-politise politics, and to be the only viable option on the left (by punching left)

      • Lula’s broad front is filled with ppl (senators, congressppl, etc) that are indistinguishable from Bolsonaro’s camp

don’t forget he just killed the huge working hours reduction bill people were pushing for. it would’ve pretty much guaranteed his reelection.

last i heard of it a week ago, he made a deal with the alcolumbre coalition (the current leader of the senate) to remove the emergency status from the bill, postponing the vote to their criteria. alcolumbre is a fascist, so it’s not gonna be voted on before the elections, at the very least.

i forgot what lula got in exchange for it, i don’t think it was anything remotely consequential.

Ah, I see, catching up a bit now.

Basically not blowing up the budget to smithereens. Besides emptying the senate or trying to muck up the bill, they can pass costly legislation, without a clear source.

tbf the far right were the ones to somehow associate the supreme court with “the left”
