    The obvious question. Example: someone is eating soup. Someone else walks up, “so you’re eating soup, huh?”

      My parent’s generation did that a lot more. For them, it was just a standard meaningless expression for when you don’t know what to say, obviously to start small talk, whereas younger people take it more literally and get annoyed for asking such a dumb question
