No. It’s rare that I can’t see both sides of an issue, so I rarely come down especially strongly on one side or the other. However, I do have the bad habit of trying to explain the side contrary to the prevailing view in my circles online which can piss people off…
Below, Velma is referring to this thread where they had a very unpopular opinion, just in case you got the impression that they’re doing anything other than trying to follow me around and yell at me. I don’t consider that thread an example of this at all, because pretty much everyone had the same opinion as me there except Velma. The only link is perhaps my frustration at them being so “staunch” in their convictions that they’re unable to hold a productive conversation about it, and instead can only repeat their firm belief again and again. I’m not here to trade “yes it is” - “no it isn’t” for ever and ever.
I made it clear to you, politely, I was done talking with you about that, and I told you exactly why. Do I need to tell you to stop harassing me as well? That’s a rhetorical question. Don’t answer me - just fuck off.
I came across this thread browsing, I didn’t seek you out.
If you don’t want others remembering conversations where you tried to “both sides” recording people having sex without their consent, then don’t engage in that kind of debate.
Those conversations don’t live in isolation and the people you converse with don’t disappear from the internet the next day.
They popped onto my awareness a couple of weeks ago when someone else was being a cunt to them, although I didn’t agree with whatever it was had raised that person’s ire either.
I think generally I’m pretty good at hearing people out - if they are willing and able to explain themselves… but obviously I can’t get through to everyone. I think because I have that perception of myself, when I see someone failing to get their point across I have a hubristic tendency to think I can jump in sort it out… when that doesn’t work, it leaves me feeling frustrated rather than amused. Flaw on my part.
So I don’t find them funny really. But the thing keeping me from blocking them is that now I feel like I need to watch for them replying with snide, dishonest remarks, which I can’t do if I block them.
The left completely lost me for a while during the 2010s due to shitty messaging. “I’m not here to educate you”, “I can tell you’re a straight white male”, etc etc. Ive always been very egalitarian minded, so when the ones claiming they’re for equality are harassing people based on unchangeable characteristics, it really pisses me off. Thankfully I ended up finding some people that actually knew how talk with another human being. I feel partially responsible for the mess my country is in now, but honestly, so were the people that pushed me one way or another.
, is that the majority of autistic people are quite capable of learning to operate differently, even if it doesn’t come naturally.
Oh come on. You don’t want me talking to you? Don’t be sitting here positing that I’m autistic.
It is wrong to record someone having sex without their consent. There’s no amount of learning to operate differently that’s going to change my mind on this and it shouldn’t.
Why are you so insistent that I’m in the wrong on this? Who are you recording having sex without their knowledge?
The 2010s definitely had a lot of missteps and over-corrections when it came to pulling the country more left and it’s a shame. It’s led to statements from politicians like AOC saying things like “woke 1.0 is dead” and similar and that’s really understandable. There should be more grace and education in leftists spaces for sure.
Then there’s some topics, like recording people having sex without consent, that I thought was a pretty agreed upon crossed line. I thought consent was something we all agreed should be respected more in our society and our country. So coming on people willing to play devil’s advocate for knowingly recording someone without their consent blew my mind with FishFace and other users here yesterday.
So yeah, I clash with some people like FishFace that are willing to “both sides” topics that don’t need it because it’s really frustrating and offensive. Add in that I’ve got ADHD justice sensitivity and I can be real stubborn about topics like these.
Neither is pushing that I’m the unreasonable one for having a staunchly held belief that no one has the right to record another having sex without their consent. But here you are editing your comments and still trying to argue with me without having me reply.
If you’re embarrassed about trying to justify recording people having sex without their consent, then don’t engage in debates trying to defend it.
I honest to god was going to leave the conversation there yesterday and then stumbled on your admission that you enjoy doing “both sides” arguments and sometimes it pisses people off. This is perfectly in line with the topic of this post.

Being able to “see both sides” of recording someone having sex without their consent will absolutely piss some people off lol

Velma is funny. If they weren’t, I’d have blocked them by now.

I feel that middle paragraph a lot.

Stop harassing me.
Stop diagnosing me.
Didn’t do that.

I’m not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s ok shrug
I in no way defended you lol. I said you’re funny in a “I find their dogged determination to be wrong, amusing” sort of way.
I might have been more charitable if we’d started off with the civility you just demonstrated, but that ship has sailed for the foreseeable future.
Yeah I took that line out as soon as I saw you downvoted me and realized who you were.
Again, defenders of non-consensual sex and recordings are on the wrong side of history.
Fucking lmao.
Oh I’ll die on this hill so hard lol
This is the actual thread where you are arguing that it isn’t absolute that someone has a right to privacy from recording during sex.
Linking the thread I already linked is not leaving me alone.

I am not embarrassed, which is why I edited my comment to link to the thread after you brought it up without giving people the context.
I just don’t want to talk to you about it any more, because you have nothing interesting to say about it, something which I made explicitly clear.
Stop talking to me. If you want to bitch about me, my opinion or this conversation, find someone who wants to listen.
