I’m sure that the timing on this is not at all intentional, it’s just coincidence that it happens before an election and not after
As my dad once told me, if the good Lord wanted to give the US an enema, the nozzle would go into Texas.
Let me guess, all of them registered Democrats?
They can’t specifically target Democrats so they go after areas with a “transient” population…by using transient they want you to infer that the community of folks renting are the same as a group of Drifters…areas like college towns, lower income areas…
Then they basically use non voting in the previous election or two as proof you have moved to a new location… It’s fucking asinine especially given the rare cases of voter fraud are committed almost exclusively by the same party trying to fuck up elections.
Just the annual purging of registered Democrat voters in Texas.
Seriously they do this every year, why are people surprised?
and in every other gop state, texas just does it at a larger scale, a small niche portion welcomes it because they wouldnt have to do jury duty, since JD often use voter rolls as thier first choice to summon people.
I got purged…yay
Also, it’s so removed from the system, that I have to register as a new voter. By mail.
That’s so fucked up
Never had to register to vote in my life. Even without the brazen purging of voter rolls, the requirement is a means of voter suppression.
I get purged in my state EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Thankfully you can register at the polls, day of.
How does that happen?
So I’d suggest Reading “How Trump stole the 2020 election” by Greg Palast. https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/659617/how-trump-stole-2020-by-greg-palast/
Basically the Republicans send out a junk mail looking slip to people living in high density rental areas if they had not voted in a couple of cycles and then punted them off the rolls, the justification is they must have moved and we need to clean up the voter lists…
The Gov of Georgia at the time in 2020 was elected by less votes than he purged as the Secretary of State…if I recall he purged like 400,000 and won by 100,000.
Republicans are nothing if not crooks
Fucking Kris Kobach, the attorney general in KS.
He has a program that checks if you haven’t voted in awhile, if your address doesn’t match, if you were registered somewhere else and didn’t tell them you moved (does anyone do this?).
And if you have a common name, you’re probably going to get removed from the registers every single time since it’s a very flawed system.
Many conservative states joined his program.
There is a great book on this fuckery called “How Trump Stole the 2020 Election”

No clue to be honest, but yes I am registered D
So what are you going to or can you do about it? Has this ever happened before to you or someone you know?
Never happened to me before. I was able to vote in the last major elections without a problem. I even looked it up a few months ago and it was fine. What’s odd is that it’s showing the last address I had, not my current. I updated when I changed my license, and submitted the voter change. My wife did it at the same time, hers is still valid and got updated, while mine did not.
I am hoping that by mailing in the new forms (for some fucking reason I can’t online) it will be updated in time for the midterms.
I’m dealing with the same exact thing. I updated my license with my new address months ago. There was an option to update my vote registration information with that and, of course, I did that. It’s showing my registration is active, but it’s showing my old address and I can’t change it online. The website keeps having unresolved errors when I put all the information in to update it… We moved two hours away, but I’ll sure as shit drive two hours to vote for Talarico and Hinojosa
What’s funny is, I would swear I got the in mail confirmation after it was updated. I wish I had kept it but not like it’d make a difference now anyway.
It might not be a bad idea to get in touch with, not sure who’s dealing with election law stuff but even ring up ACLU and see if there’s anyone they can connect you with who’s trying to get ahead of all this election disenfranchismnet bullshit.
This is happening to over a million+ Texans so you’re not alone in it but theres absolutely fuckery afoot.
Your question doesn’t really need a specific answer. It’s easy to create weird rules and enforce them badly. Exactly how is irrelevant, because justice was never the goal.
I mean, its pretty important to know the cause of and how to mitigate disenfranchisment, I get what you’re saying but little can be done without understanding how its being done
Voting democrat likely
Where are they getting that information tho
Registered voter lists maybe?
Does America not have a secret ballot?
America has separate primaries for the political parties. You’re only allowed to vote in one per election, and they know which one you picked. So if you voted in the Democratic primary, they know you’re either a Democrat or a strategically-voting Republican.
In most American states you can register under a political party in order to be eligible to participate in their primary. So therefore party affiliation is gathered data - not sure if it’s public (might vary by state) but they have that data.
And even in states with open primaries they can see which primary elections you tend to vote in, and identify your party affiliation that way.
That i cant speak to, but if youre registered for a party, AFAIK that is something they can look into
Evil continues to win.
