Probably the past ones are just fiction as well. Probably they always ignored pleas for help. But they paid for writers to say differently. Or just lied about it.
You’re right. And our ruling class can probably point out to the absolute amount of money they spend on their foundations of choice to say they are even more charitable than the Victorians. Ugh.
