minus-squareDr. Bob@lemmy.caOPlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·5 days agoThey follow lines of latitude and longitude so straight lines on a curved surface. It’s slightly untrue on the Eastern border that looks like a jagged edge due to the dominion land survey. But it was meant to be straight.
minus-squaredeadbeef79000@lemmy.nzlinkfedilinkarrow-up2·5 days agoI suspected/assumed they were ‘true’ to the lines of latitude and longitude. The amusing projection in green makes it obvious that the map projection is taking some liberties ;-)

minus-squareZwiebel@feddit.orglinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·edit-25 days agoNo they clearly don’t. It spans about two longitude lines at the bottom and three at the top
minus-squareDr. Bob@lemmy.caOPlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·edit-25 days agoI know the southern border is the 49th parallel and the northern border is the 60th. I’d have to look up the meridians. Eta: the Western border is the 110th meridian. The Eastern one is fucked up because of the Dominion Land Survey. Eta2: the Eastern border is ~102nd meridian.
