Britain blocks entry for podcasters Cenk Uygur and Hasan Piker over 'criticising Israel'

The Times reported that UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood cancelled Uygur's Electronic Travel Authorisation prior to his departure

Turkish-American political commentator Cenk Uygur said he has been barred from entering the United Kingdom after authorities revoked his travel authorisation ahead of planned events in London and Oxford this week.

Uygur has repeatedly criticised Israel’s military campaign in Gaza and described its actions as genocide.

Political commentator and Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, Uygur’s nephew, said on social media that British authorities had also revoked his visa.

“The UK has revoked my visa as well,” Piker wrote, alleging the decision was made “at the behest of Israel”. Piker is also scheduled to appear at SXSW London this week. South by Southwest (SXSW) is an annual film and music event.

    Yeah I’d ban Cenk for being a known genocide denier and possible genocide supporter. (*‘The Young Turks’ were ethno-nationalists into racial purity…) rather than his takes on Israel.

      ok ms lane, but dont those accusations of bias pale in comparison to accusations of actual mass murder? One is a transgression of manners and one is well, mass murder. Not even close to in the same league, but you focus exclusively on the genocide denial and antisemitism as if they were the most important thing. Seems to me that the fact of mass murder renders talk of bad manners as a trite waste of time and a misdirection from those weightier issues. Consider just a single instance of murder, 5 year old Hind Rajab. Can you weigh Cenk’s words against her murder? Why arent the IDF members who shot Rajab (murders ordered by IDF Lieutenant colonel Beni Aharon) and the medics who came to aid her banned from the UK? No. Are you demanding that they be banned from the UK like you are demanding for Cenk? No, you’re sure not. Why not?

      Is anyone on the zionist side going to die if Cenk speaks at SXSW about Israel’s genocide of Palestinians? No. They wont. They will just be peaved that they arent getting their way in media and dominating the narrative.
