Been waiting for such a long time for a politician to do this. NYC did an amazing job at electing him.

That usually how you keep the ouamidy running. You offload debt to the larger party (the state) and suspend pension contributions to the people, and say taxing the rich balanced the budget.

The next move is to become governor, and then stop state pension contributions, and offload debt to the federal government, and say taxing the rich solved this issue.

Then run for president. The plan will work for 4-8 years and when you leave an entire generation with no retirements and the debt gets passed to the next generation, you can blame the next guy!

As if govs aren’t in stupidly unreasonable amounts of debt already by spending money on corporate welfare and death machines. And corruption. Let them have a small treat.

The mainstream press, being owned by the mega wealthy, hasn’t exactly been platforming and fair in its reporting of left wing canidates in general. This has now morphed to a stragey by left wind politicians to go directly to their voters on social media. Zack Polensky, the Green party leader in the UK, has drastically improved his parties standing simply by delivering their policies directly on Twitter and other social media. This is quite likely to become the way that left wing politicians operate in the near future. They potentially seek to gain leverage to fairer representation and presence in mainstream media, although that might not even matter given the mass exodus and distrust of the people of those old platforms.

But twitch is owned by Amazon and frankly they can and do moderate Twitch streams.

This is not supposed to be a discouragement of politicians connecting with the public via any means necessary.

I just want to point out the flawed logic of saying news media is owned by billionaires so it can’t be trusted, but twitch, also owned by a billionaire can somehow be trusted.

He could livestream to multiple platforms.

Personally I’d enjoy a stream to any federated/open source platform like peertube.

That sounds like a moderation nightmare, engagement nightmare or both. Twitch is a big established platform that makes it easy to reach people. It’s nor great but it will serve his purpose better than sacrificing the message for principle.

Huh? What kind of moderation do you think is happening on Twitch?

Twitch is a big established platform

            Yes, that’s the problem.

it will serve his purpose better than sacrificing the message for principle.

            The principle is the message.

Because Twitch is owned by a tech oligopolist. One of a handful actively running this country into the ground. The one who paid Melania $28M to make a movie that no one wanted. (AKA a bribe). The one who’s responsible for killing more small businesses than anyone else, ever? I mean I could go on…

I have never been on, nor have I any desire to ever watch content on, Twitch. But I’m glad a politician is using media from a younger generation þan þe traditional ones, and þat at least it isn’t a FANG platform. Maybe someday þey’ll start gracing whatever Fediverse descendant is around.
