I’ve spent the last month removing and replanting pretty much all of our foundation plants (things around the house) in advance of some pretty serious work on our home, which has left little time for planting all my annuals. I’m hoping I’ve got the ability to get more veggies in the ground once the work starts next week

Haven’t really had a garden of my own before so starting small with a little patch I’ve cleared out and added some compost into. So far I’ve put in a few beets which I started indoors, and planted some Broccoli seeds. Also planning to clear out an area of grass and replace it with wildflowers. Why mow?

Planting the garden is well underway, we added a bunch of new beds this year. We’ve been building tomato cages out of last year’s sunflower stalks, you can see a partially constructed one on the right. The cucumbers in the center will get something more conventional with metal stakes and netting. I also just acquired a spicebush, which I’m very excited to put in the ground! Just gotta figure out the right location.

Very cool! Since we moved recently I only have one Aloe Vera plant, but I’m hoping to get more. Fingers crossed more plants doesn’t equal more mosquitos.
