Honestly, I think Pizza Hut is finally capitalizing on the wave of nostalgia that swept up around this program maybe 5 years ago, as a particularly popular tweet made its rounds:
My entire personality comes from the fact that, at a very young age, a person of authority told me that the more books I read, the more free pizza I’d get.

The original author seems to work in publishing (I don’t have a LinkedIn account and don’t feel like making one just to be able to view this stranger’s job history), and appears to have deleted her Twitter account at some point. But as far as I can tell, Book Twitter ran with it, and lots of unauthorized Book-It merch started showing up on people’s T-shirt and etsy stores.
Maybe Pizza Hut wants to revive the program because of the popularity of these nostalgic posts. But they certainly didn’t cause the revival of popularity, because they’re kinda late to the game.
They’re doing it again
I’m sure it was just a coincidence this question was asked, then. Not an ad, or anything like that, for sure.
