The original narrative was that she was a protestor / legal observer. i.e. that she was actively engaged with the ICE activity in some capacity and that she had placed herself in harms way in the course of doing so.

This new information reveals that she was just a normal person going about her normal business before being randomly murdered by ICE.

Neither version says its OK to just murder someone, but the information that she was just a person in the wrong place takes even more out of the narrative that she somehow initiated the encounter at all.

Neither version says its OK to just murder someone,

That’s the issue though and why this is important. The right is using this specific talking point to attempt to justify her murder. This shuts down that narrative immediately and forces people to wrestle with their own lack of humanity.

She wasn’t what they said she was. She was just a mom dropping her kid off at school. Still confused?

In case anyone didn’t see, there were tons of reactionaries online saying that she was an activist and “fuck around and find out” etc. Just the most disgusting craven nonsense imaginable.
