did the US, just conquer a whole nation overnight?
if you only listen to US media you might think so; at the press conference today Trump said “we’ll run it” as if they already control it, and he also claimed that Vice President (now acting president) Delcy Rodríguez told US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that “we’ll do whatever you need”. However, a few hours later:
They couped it, but the signals were there some months ago, and it has been something in the works for about two decades. I hate it, I hate them and everyone who enables it. 😐
I mean, maybe… Still a lot of work to do for that to be ensured, but as far as international politics go, there are so many people talking about the US that the US can mostly just ignore it and that would have been the largest roadblock here.
Basically, hard to think of a better place to be if someone wanted Venezuela to be the 51st state.

Naw, dropped a bunch of bombs, murdered a bunch of people, and kidnapped a leader.
tbf, I asked it the morning it happened and no one had any idea what’s going on.
US needs to become a pariah state
Finally something they can be number one at!
(fuck Sasha Baron Cohen, but this comment is funnier if read in Borat’s voice)
The United States of America, number one asshole country in the world.

so, no, although the US has kidnapped their president, at this point in time they have not actually conquered the nation.

No, So far we’ve only kidnapped their leader and are holding him hostage.
