Lapses in safeguards led to wave of sexualized images this week as xAI says it is working to improve systems

Elon Musk’s chatbot Grok posted on Friday that lapses in safeguards had led it to generate “images depicting minors in minimal clothing” on social media platform X. The chatbot, a product of Musk’s company xAI, has been generating a wave of sexualized images throughout the week in response to user prompts.

Screenshots shared by users on X showed Grok’s public media tab filled with such images. xAI said it was working to improve its systems to prevent future incidents.

Agreed but it’s all grey area when it comes to AI. Since they are not “real” is it child porn in the eyes of the law? We need more cases to establish the law but you know F-Elon will just take the shortcut and have Donny tell the Supreme Cunts to say AI child porn is ok.

Very much illegal in Brazil. Our laws specifically target this attempt at dodging the law with semantics. But will Twitter be banned? Of course not.

Oh hell yes!! If it creates what the courts call a “prurient interest” with images of children, real or simulated, yeahh, you’re gonna go down for facilitating creation of, or creation and distribution of, child porn…

Before AI took over, I used to make fakes and we had tons of discussions on the forums about it. Even if an actor or actress was of age, if the photo used was from when they were underage it could land the poster permabanned, regardless of how popular their fakes were. (Emma Watson comes to mind - OH! did the shit fly around her likeness being used when a faker on the forum took a still headshot from one of the Harry Potter films to use and the picture was removed almost instantly and his posts were heavily modded for quite a while afterwards…)

Even simulated UA photos… nope. You don’t go there… ever.

The individuals being depicted in the offending material are real. Grok isn’t generating images, it’s editing real photos of real underage people. This is very much illegal.
